Bemani games like Dance Dance Revolution, Beatmania, Guitar Freaks, Drum Mania, Para Para Paradise, and so on.

If so, how good are you in those games?

(btw: If ANY flaming occurs, I ask that any Mod/Super Mod/Admin to close this topic... if that happens that is.)

DDR and beatmania forever man! I am not the best at either, but I beat most other people, except the ones that can play it everyday in an arcade and are 5-6 years older than me.

It's better to create a new thread than to bring back one from four years ago, just for the record.

I disagree, the reason thread necromancy is often frowned upon is because it's abused obnoxiously. This is an example of thread necromancy which isn't exactly bad, but not spectacular either.

Me...I play a lot of Drum mania, I started playing when the 10th mix was freshly released. Right now I can play up to lv 50+ songs, some lv 60+ and one lv 70+ song (Rolling 1000 toon) without handicaps of anykind. (I've played only songs on Extreme and I stay well away from the Autobass handicap.)

Beatmania+Me=Never! My fingers aren't programmed at all for that. Love the music and love watching people own it, but not for this girl. I used to play DDR up until last year when I was put out of business(knee surgery).

Now I ParaPara and occasionally will go to the arcade to play the oldies. I perfer more up to date routines from clubs now.

I recently got into Pop'N Music. That game is ten tons of fun. ^_^

Hmmm....I'm in need of Pop'n Music pretty bad, I'm a very sad 7th Dan in beatmania, although it's still really fun. Drum mania I can only do a twenty with no handicaps, and a couple of 50s with the Bass handicap. Guitar Freaks I'm pretty terrible at, and I've never tried keyboard mania...heh.

Oh and I can do everything in DDR 'cept Fascinations

Here's a tip, ditch the bass handicap altogether. It's what dragging your performance down in Drum Mania.

Hardest song I can pass in DM is Rolling 1000t on Ext, no handicap. W/handicap it's Tomorrow on Ext.

I only really played DDR and Dance Maniax, but I liked Dance Maniax more since you used both your hands and your feet.
I can't really gauge my skill with Dance Maniax since I'd always pick random songs. But for DDR, I usually warmed up with either Drop Out or Witch Doctor, and followed up with Tears, Dead End, and/or Max 300.

Edit: I got the soundtrack for DDR Supernova, and I absolutely have to play it for the sake of AA and Murmur Twins.

Only with friends, and with them, I do play some rounds of DDR and "Guitar Hero 2", but lately the latter's been getting much more play with that select group. (And for a week, it nearly ruined how I listen to music, because I kept picturing in my head how guitar-work in the songs I was listening to would translate to GH2.)

I play quite a bit of DDR - max myself out at about 6-7 feet (at home, metal pad, no bar)... I've got all 11 of the DDR PS2 games (US + JPN releases), and I have to say SuperNova is by far the worst one of the bunch. Even Party Collection was more fun - at least it had decent songs. I have played Taiko Drumming in the arcade, and that was a blast! I'm looking forward to getting it for my PS2 - found it at Fry's for $30! I haven't tried the other ones... Maybe someday..

So yeah, um... First post - Hi all!

^ ^ Hi...Us version of Taiko is terrible I think. Go get a JP version I suggest their 5th game or the anime collection thing. They arn't too expensive.

I've only got DDR Extreme(JP) And SuperNova(US)

I don't think it's the worst personally, I'd have to save that for MAX2(US)

I do very much like the Boss songs...

ITG Anyone?

I agree. PS2 SuperNOVA was a disgrace. No new Paranoia, and no new Trip Machine since Survivor in Extreme. No bg movies, just dancing characters. No song information, and there hasn't been a lack of this since Konamix. No really decent songs 'cept Chaos, Fascinations, and H-D-V. So my point is, if you reeally want SuperNOVA for PS2, just do yourself a favor, and buy one of the better ones like MAX or Extreme.

Anyway, I'm pretty good at DDR, but I'm not the best by far. I can A Trip Machine Survivor and Maximizer on Heavy, Chaos and Legend of Max on Standard. I recently bought the beatmania released for PS2 in the US and though it didn't have a very good song selection, but it got me into beatmania. As with DDR, I'm not the best at beatmania either, but I can easily A era, Holic, The Cube, and Mobo Moga on Normal. I do not like the music in ParaPara, but I would still play it if I got the chance. I would like to get my hands on some JP versions of IIDX, as well as Pop'n.

Lucky. The only place near me is the Clubhouse Fun Center, which has Extreme.

And that's it.

That's the only nearby place that has any sort of Bemani arcade game.

I play DDR almost everyday. I'm extremely addicted to it. Hell, I've even lost 42 pounds since August doing it. Its very good for LADIE-HUNTING, lol. Girls just love seeing a guy do any song on Heavy.

Basically. Just videotape yourself doing a song agreed on, and challenge the person to do better. Then that person tapes themself the same way (you DDR-ing + Screen + Scores) If he does better, he wins.

Very simple.

Also, you got to upload the tape to a website, perferably youtube.

Or just get DDR Extreme 2 and hook it up onto the internet and play there. That also works.

But I'm currently addicted to Beatmania IIDX 12 Happy Sky. So freakin fun and addicting. And I like the songs more than DDR (some DDR songs are on there along with familiar artists like BeForU and Dj Taka).

I play Para Para Paradise everytime I happen by an arcade with the game (which is not so common nowadays. When I was in college two years ago, I'd have at least one round of Para Para Paradise everyday at the nearby arcade (very near. The college was on the 5th floor of a shopping mall, and the arcade is on the second floor of the same mall) on lunch hour. Too bad this college I'm working at is at least one kilometer away from the nearest arcade with a PPP machine). I also regularly play Dance Dance Revolution before I learnt of Para Para Paradise, but I totally suck at it.

I've been playing DDR Extreme 2 pretty much nonstop for the last several months... And yesterday I went back and played some Max 2... It seemed really easy comparatively - maybe it was just simpler graphics so the arrows were easier to follow, I'm not sure. I played Supernova again, but still don't like it (can't stand most of the songs). I've found a Pop'n Music controller online, so maybe I can finally build my ultimate Bemani box!

Good luck.

that crap get's expensive, and if you don't get an ASC it's just really weird.

My only compliants with DDRSN were that they left like 50 songs out in the US version and the crossovers were terribly edited down (Rainbow Rainbow, No. 13, Xepher).

I just can't understand why they would cut them in the first place.

Agree. Mainly Xepher. XP

If I were (somehow) step this song, the begining should have freeze arrows. At least Konami should think of that before cutting it down! XP

(Other then that they won't want to be worked out for the dancers/players. ^^; )

I don't mind songs like Rainbow Rainbow (thanks to that, I got hooked into Ryu* songs. So it's a good thing.), but I just realized now that well....

Kagerow's steps doesn't seem to fit. Even though I can pass 7-footers just fine. X_X

Since this Bemani thread is here might as well :p
Guitar Freaks, Drummania, Keyboardmania, Pop n' Music, Beatmania, Pocket! (I actually own GF1 (http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~ua4s-njm/bemani/bm_pok19.html) and 2 (http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~ua4s-njm/bemani/bm_pok25.html)) and whatever else come next. I used to play DDR but that got old after playing that for a couple of years.

Bemani crazy? yes...music is my life. Some guitar and keyboard and abit of drums. Combine it with a game and I'll become addicted.

I need a drummania controller for DTXMania...

Well, I've been playing Pop'n Music on a DualShock all my life. ASC are just waaay too expensive for me. T_T Which is why when I played it at the arcade again, I won't be able to do much. (Not sure now, I think I'll do better)
DDR, I use it as an exercise workout as well. Still on Standard, though. XP

Oooh, I LOVE Bemani games!
I play DrumMania[my favorite, started on 4th mix], GuitarFreaks[that's right--the original Guitar Hero and better], DanceManiax, DDR, KeyboardMania, BeatMania[the really old school mix, like 5th? I believe]. One of the only ones I haven't gotten to try is Pop'n music.

On DrumMania there are only two songs on 7th and 8th mix I can't pass on heavy - Tamayura and The Least 100 Seconds, of course I haven't played in a long while[my arcade got shut down]. Then I can pretty much do anything on DanceManiax because I think this is the easiest Bemani game. Then on DDR I can pass most songs on there on heavy on challenge.
As for KeyboardMania and GuitarFreak, I completely suck at KeyboardMania but am average at GuitarFreaks I guess.

I play...

DanceDanceRevolution - there's an arcade 15 minutes away from my place (on foot) with an SN2 machine, so there... after taking a huge endurance drop, could still clear 8s and 9s; grades are usually As and AAs.

Beatmania IIDX - IIDX GOLD machine a train ride away (20 minutes) and I borrowed a friend's KOC at home. Can clear 12* songs... well, some of them. Normally, it's RED or DD for me, though I play HS every once in a while... for... uhh... We are (I lost the japanese characters)

GF & DM - Rarely play this, but can still clear 90s in DM and 60s-70s in GF. (Side Note: If someone says GFDM ripped off Guitar Hero/Rock Band/whatever, I will personally have that guy nuked. ^__^)
