i went back to edinbrugh 3 days after buying it and they told me i could not take it back , and that has really put me off buying pc games

i was really wanting to play final fantasy 11 is there anyway i could still play it without paying for it ? :-(

Nope, gotta pay to play. FFXI is an MMORPG and a majority of MMORPGs have their files saved onto the servers. A bunch of info really, not just character data but an actual e-mail account and online contact and stuff. Unfortunately, FFXI will pretty much never will be in a form where you can play it for free, it's just how the game is structured.

The main reason why you can't return Final Fantasy XI is basically because since it's an MMORPG, it requires the use of CD Keys that can only be used once. It has the "No Resale" tag all over the box and because of that, retailers cannot buy it back from you and they can't accept it for returns once it's opened because you exposed the CD-Key. Pretty much, you wasted your money right there.

Of course you can just pay to play the game... but you probably don't want to do that.

That is a little rich, seeing as you cannot write well!

I dunno where you're from, but where I work, if a game (or any video/cd/dvd/software) has been opened, we cannot take it back because it violates federal copyright laws. We're only able to exchange for the EXACT same item. I tell customeres this all the time when the come in with games and movies.

Not sure how game shops run things, but where I work we have to check really hard to make sure that the packaging hasn't been tampered with at all before taking PC games back.

And the people who told you that you didn't have to pay to play, are dumbasses who don't know crap about mmorpgs. Seeing as you have to pay to play most of em.
