Well, I heard some1 say that Hojo wanted to mate Aerith with RedXIII, so maybe it's possible that he did find a mate, although i don't believe that that happened...

However, if it is possible for him to mate with humans..who knows...

Before Bugahagen died he told Nanaki that some of his species might still exsist somewhere on the planet and he should do his best to track them down. Not those exact words but that`s the gist of it.

So, we can only assume that he found other...dogs like him and mated.

As Dirge rightly said, Bugenhagen did not actually say that he was the only one of his kind alive on the planet. It was around 300 years later in the end movie, so he had plenty of time for him to find a mate and produce those little children.

I doubt the FF7 world is anything like the scale what we see on the world map, towns are always smaller on the world map than when you go inside them.

you see one day I went out serching for chocobos, but I had accidentally forgot to use the "Chocobo Lure" Materia and went fighting monsters when all of a sudden...........
BOOM!!!!! a Hyena/Lion/Cheetah like monster that looked like Red XIII attaked me!
I was so suprised that I woke up and found out that it all a dream.

And besides, Hojo obviously proved he could mate with humans because that's what he was going to do with Aeris. Thus spawning gigabytes of Hentai involing RedXIII and Tifa/Aeris/Yuffie.
