I heared that Final Fantasy XII is going to be on two disks, is that true? Also that this will be the longest FF ever made, is that true as well?

I've seen no information that suggests this is true. If this was just hearsay and didn't come from a reputable source, then it would be a good idea to just dismiss it.

It's quite possible, who knows how much of the DVD FF10 used up. Although I guess FF12 isn't neccesarily going to take up more space.
I thought FF9 would be on 5 cds before I bought it.

I am interested more so of the Blu-Ray technology used in playstation 3
Changing disks is annoying i think, so larger capacity is a must.

I had read in a magazine that blue ray can (currently) hold 50gb of stable data,
and up to 200gb was tested but i am yet to hear any futher news on the latter.

I think that square should stop making us fork out for re released games when clearly they could release a full compilation of 1-9 and have room for bonuses with the blu-ray technology.

To to sum it up i would be slightly dissapointed if there are two DVD discs for FFXII,
if it is a necessity then make the disc double sided as there as issues such as lost discs, bluky casing and the pure annoyances of finding the small print that says "disc 2"

yeah yeah ...I will shut up now ive had my bitch

Dvd's can be double layered as well. I guess Ps2s can read that since quite a few movie dvds are double layered

Dark Mage626
07-29-2005, 07:54 AM
Yes I did hear that there would be two. I heard FFX was the same as 3 disc on the ps1. Does this mean it will be the same as playing 6 disc?

Vala

upon reading a few other forums people thought it was four discs however it is likely it will be two... of course this is just hearsay at the current time.

it is rumored to be two dual layered DVD's which is the same as 4 standard dvd's

what people do not realise (reference to dark mages statement) is that a normal CD-rom only allows for up to 800mb at extended capacity and dvd can hold 4.7 gb but
dual layered hold double that so about 8-9gb

now xenogears could be completed within 20 hours for a supposed 80 hour game
and that title was spread over two discs so larger mediums or mulitple discs does not necessarily mean a longer game.

also Square likes to stretch the truth about time length of their titles....half of it is being locked into cutscenes and FMV and also after having completed 100% of achievable "things" to do in the game

So it really is pointless debating over how the final product will appear as it varies depending on how any said title is made

ME, the longer the game will be, the happier I will be! 2 discs don'T only mean longer game, but better quality work, more detailled environements, more possibilities... So I don't understand those who reckon it's annoying to change discs...

people are saying Changing the discs become tedious as opposed to having the same content on 1 Dual-Layered Dvd's I personally don't like many discs because something always goes wrong with one of them happend to me since FF7-9

Andyuk
08-03-2005, 05:07 PM
Even on FF9 you only changed disks every 12 hours or so unless you were on a speed run, it's not a issue really.

I'd say a lot of things have to be considered about how many disks FF12 will take up, apart from what we've already wrote.

I remember hearing that there is LESS detail, around half as many polygons compared with FF10 on screen at any one time.
But then they may be using higher quality textures and the game may not be as linear, using larger areas?

Basically noone can know for sure (except square enix) how many disks this game will use or the length of the game.

I think it will be on one double layered disk. why I think that? because ffx was on a normal dvd and took only 4.19gb of 4.7.
So I reckon it would be unlikely that ffxi would take 2 dvds when they would have plenty of space on a doubled layered dvd.

Always possible we will have to see but i have a feeling that square would be feeling free to splurge out on media size experimenting for the blu-ray capacities.

I also love the blu-ray, its a great idea but theres down sides to it IMO.

1. Because its so large piarcy is going to be a problem, I heard, with the advanced burning techniques one disc can fit say all 6 Star Wars movies and all the Star Trek movies no problem, in Hi Def, i can see why "they" are worried because someone can burn all the movies and sell it for 10 bucks on any street corner in new york, but i have another issue

I have 40 Gb's of music on my pc, say i buy the burner and the disk and burn all the music on it, and the disk ends up getting scrathed, im fucked, the disk is gone, same with a game, if your damage a more expensive disk ( x-box 360 games willbe 60 bucks, whos telling how much the PS3 games will be) That would suck. So i think its a touchy subject, alot of Pos and Neg's...

Well cheers to say that any FF titles that come on the PS3 will be on one disk because each can hold up to 50GB, but as for the PS2 titles. I think that there will still be multiple disks involved.

Well they have taken so long with the game, I find it very easy to believe that it will be two discs. But that also means a bigger OST! YAY, more Sakimoto.

if it is more than one disc please let it be two because if it is dual layered imagine the hell it would be trying to find the 1st part but thats just my opinion anyone else?

Well i've played the japanese version of FFXII, and the game itself is ONE disk. The collector's edition comes with an aditional DVD for extras and what not. Not actual game content.

but anyway the dvd player does the finding for you. I don't see the problem. Although it would seem like better value for money if you got more disks in my opinion.

Look at this picture. This picture is from the collector's edition of the game. You'll see a spot for two disks. HOWEVER, one disk is purely for DVD extra's the other is for the game itself.

Wow u need to get out more instead of sitting on ur ass. If u think its a pain in the butt, to get off ur ass, take the 2nd disk out of the case, open the ps2, take the first disk out, put the 2nd disk in the ps2, close the ps2, put the first disk back in the case, and sit back on ur ass again. Then WOW ur one lazy SOB

Inless u got back problems or ur disabled or something.

It has nothing to do with me getting off of my ass to do it there lame-o. It's called.. it's an interruption in the overall flow of the game. Of course they leave you with a cliffhanger then you change disks... to me that just ruins it for me. and btw.. I do have lower lumbar problems.

cliffhangers are good!!!! its like a book, when u read one chapter and it so good but when u get to the end of the chapter ur like, omg this is so sweet, then u find out its the end of the chapter. So u switch the page to see what happens next!! cliffhangers are good!!!!!

cliffhangers are good... but for me it's annoying because switching disks puts a sudden HALT in my gaming experience. I don't like that. It's like reading a good book with someone talking in your ear.

The only real reason I dislike multiple disks, is because once I am on a certain disk for a long time I start to wonder, "When will I get to the next disk?" It draws my attention away from the game.
I have the same problem when reading books, like just anticiplating finishing the chapter.

When it comes to having to open the PlayStation and switch the disks, I don't mind it gives me something to do. Also a good excuse for a piss break.

Gilthanos
10-07-2006, 07:52 AM
yeah.. i kinda agree with that too. For me it's even worse when I KNOW I'm close to the end of the disk cause then I feel like i'm hurrying to just get to the next disk. The first time around it isn't so bad cause it just sometimes kinda springs it on ya, but .. like.. FFVIII and FFIX those annoyed me.
