Well, I was watching Adult Swim last Saturday, when I come across quite possibly the wierdist Anime i've ever seen. Two words: Parinoa Agent. In the episode I saw, the story showed three online friends trying to kill themselfs. It was the most halarious thing I have ever seen. In the end however, they dont kill themselfs, and rhen the scene zooms in on a condom dispensing machine. It was wierd and halarious, and now Im hooked. For those of you who dont watch this show : Start. Take it from me, this is the best 30min you will see on tv.

lol. thats true. there are some very werid ones earlier in the series. but all in all it is really good. but no matter how hard to listen and watch you still won't get it. but thats what makes it funny.

Well, ever since I saw Parinoa Agent appear on adult swim it didn't make sense to me (and I don't think it's suppose to be funny at all). When I watch it all the way to the espiode where some perverted fat guy who's a securtiy guard, I stop watching it, but I made some sense out of it.

Even though it's about this scary little boy who carries a bent (dog-shaped to some people) golden baseball bat and hits the people who seem to have "connections" with each other. But from what I watched so far these "victims" are being "set free", even though they experience memory-loss...

I've tended to love Satoshi Kon's work in the past, so it's a fair bet I'll pick Paranoia Agent up on dvd one day. Sadly, I just don't have the money to invest in it right now. From what I can tell, however, this show is the farthest thing possible from something that's suitable for Adult Swim.

Parinoa Agent is a sweet show. I've watched it since they started showing it on Adult Swim. But that was really wierd that at the end of the episode they show a condom machine. I have a question to someone who's watched it. Did anyone see the episode were the police caught the kid who they thought was Little Slugger, because I didn't and I want to know why the kid lied about being him.

It almost pains me to see that I'm the only person in this thread who has actually spelled the show's name correctly.

Paranoia Agent is the only tv show he's ever directed. The movies he directed are Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress, and Tokyo Godfathers.

I saw it.
*WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD*

Remember how in the episode with the three people who constantly tried to commit suicide they always had a flashback into the chatroom with another person named Fox. Well, before Fox had killed himself he said that he wanted to do something big, something that would attact attention. Fox, which turned out to be a kid, lied about being Shouen Bat (aka Lil' Slugger). Fox was going to commit suicide while he was in his jail cell, but Lil' Slugger got to him first. The two police officers <whose names i also unfortunately forget> see Lil' slugger run from the jail cell, before they find Fox's body. Then one of the officers hears radio chatter coming from a dark room but it hard for him to hear because of an immense amount of static, but what the man says is something like: "He isn't dead. Lil' Slugger is not dead. He attacks those that are cornered...those that have no where else to hide..." With that the officer runs out of the room, and leaves the man talking and the man on the radio then says "he is still out there."

Thats why in the episode with the three people who want to kill themselves, they chase Lil' Slugger because they think that they are cornered emotionally and have no where to run or hide.

i was thinking the exact same thing as i was reading the thread

paranoia agent is pretty good. really, really, REALLY weird, but it's great, and at the end, it makes sense. it may seem like you have to be on crack to understand it, but you don't

did anyone see the episode about the guy who watched his daughter? that was a sick episode. it horrified me.

oh, i just saw the one with the condom machine. really weird. but the best thing i can think of is that like, it represents the....."cancelation of life." cause the people that are walking around are dead. you can tell because when the guy jumps in front of the train, he walks out of the train, right? well, the only person that sees him is the big, young guy from the group, zebra or whatever his name is. and then, at the end, when they are walking, they walk behind those girls who are taking a picture. they walk right behind the girls taking the pciture and like, put themselves in the picture. the girls don't even bat an eyelash, but when they look at the picture on their camera, they satart to scream, meaning that the 3 ppl weren't there before, so they were ghosts.

and speaking of the guy zebra, was he gay? cause the locket opened and i could really see the pictures inside, but i think i saw him and some other guy.

i saw tht episode too last night (Early tis morning) and i thought the same thing wen the tried to hang them selves. They should have died at once but they didnt

matt damon

actually, you don't die instantly when you get hung. the rope crushed your escophogus, so you die by suffocation.

Prak

Actually, that depends on whether there's a significant drop or not. Back in bygone days, people would be dropped through a trapdoor or something, meaning there was a chance their neck would break. It all depended mostly on how far someone had to fall though.

matt damon
06-18-2006, 06:44 AM
that's true, but some were just like, pushed of a horse, so they died by suffocation

I LOVE PARANOIA AGENT!!! *calms down* sorry.

I thinks its ace, but people find it hard to understand. Lil Slugger only attacks people who deserve it or want death, like if youve seen the one with the three people who cant commit suicide, peolple didnt understand that... but it was because they were already dead lol. You can order the entrie series plus the special from ebay for about £20 plus P&P.

*Possible spoilers*

The thing about Lil' Slugger was that every victim, except the chubby kid who was with Yuichii and the Reporter who a tailing Sagi, was having a mental breakdown:

Yuichii-Everyone was blaming him saying eh was Lil Slugger

Hironi Chono/Maria- Was having a fight with her "other" self (split personality )

Tsukiko Sagi- was under pressure to create a new chracter

The Fat cop- Under pressure from a mob boss

^His daughter-Found out that her dad had hidden cameras all over her room

Kazuma the "Holy Warrior"- Highly depressed that he couldn't finnish his mission

Thats as far back as I can remember, but the Maniwa/Radioman vs. Lil Slugger fight was cool, just too short though IMO.

I really, really liked this series. I love anime thats weird and confusing and makes you think a little bit and put some pieces together. Another favorite of mine that is like this is FLCL/Fooly Cooly/Furi Kuri.
Does anyone have any more suggestions for this type of anime that is weird and off the wall?

Hmm, I personally thought it had more in common with Serial Experiments Lain and Boogiepop Phantom then either of those, really.

well lain is simliar too, death note might be bit far away actually.
Jigoku shojo is very similar: urban legend, mystery, supernatural and so on....
