Why softs? You're probably talking about Chac. He's talking about the monster with the big shell, I think. But yeah, I was able to beat Concherer by doing what safersephiroth(EIRE) said. Just do that and you'll do fine. Also, level up your characters, because after that battle, monsters in the Via Infinito are harder, and so are the bosses.

all my girls are at level 99.

Concherer uses physical dmg, and it doesn't matter what accessories I use, or how much HP I've got (9999). He kills one girl, then the next, then the next, game over. A *little* frustrating to say the least. Some of my attempts have lasted longer than others, but this sucker has 300,000 + hp, so I've never even come CLOSE!

I'll try the gunner idea...sounds good...what the heck. I've also thought I need to finish den of woe and get magical dances Vol 2 so I can nullify phys dmg. But it seems like nothing works, so hahahahaha...I dunno.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Maybe you can get the Higher Power garment grid when you do the Dungeon quest thing in the Calm Lands. The on in the chocobo farm or something. Higher Power garment grid allows you to break your hp limit. This gg is a big help if you'rw having problems with hp with Concherer.

Or maybe you can get The End gg. But getting that garment grid takes a hell lot of time to get.

Thanks, it worked. one master gunner with catnip and two *whatever* heaving mega-phoenix at every turn. Concherer went down in about 1 minute. :)

I was also happy to get through mega-tonberry using a similar tactic, Two dark knights with max defense and auto protect can barely suvive chef's knife, but it takes a little timing luck for the gunner to get killed off and revived so that she's in a critical state and ready to use trigger happy+catnip.

Does anyone have other ideas for beating mega-tonberry? I've tried several different approaches, but this is the only thing that works so far.

The Trigger Happy+Catnip combo was the only strategy I mostly use for most of the monsters in Via Infinito.

cjwphotography --- I'll just say this --- I don't see much point in messing around with a Mega Tonberry unless it's Oversouled. Otherwise, there's really no point because you need an oversouled Mega Tonberry if you're planning to get The End Garment Grid and it also has the Cry in the Night Blue Bullet. So just fight 19 regular tonberries and then go after the Mega Tonberry.

All out attack with Dark Knight.

blitzking: "all out attack"? Do you mean you only used "attack" skill? That seems a little hard to believe. If this is what you really did, then we must be playing different verions of the same game. ;)

Agent: THANKS for the suggestions!

ok, well...no one bothered to mention that I would have to battle concherer and chac (bosses from level 60 and 80) as RANDOM monster battles after getting passed level 80! hahaha! jeeeez...this isn't even fun anymore. ;)

LOL. But you can run away from those, if you like. Those aren't considered boss fights, just random encounters. Or just master the Lady Luck 777 trick --- if you can do that then you'll be dispatching them like lightning and raking in all sorts of great items and gil.

I defeated the Choncherer the same way that I defeated the Dark Elemental on floor 40 (or whatever it was called). I just cast reflect on my party and let the monster snuff itself out with flare. No need for elaborate use-this-ds-with-this-accessory strategies ^_^

What the hell? Do not ever revive a thread this old.
