I was listening to 'Lightness' by 'Death Cab For Cutie' and I'm positive it's sampled the ambient background noise from 'Macalania Woods' in FFX/FFX-2.

Does anyone know if this is the case....?

I seriously doubt they would use Masashi Hamauzu's Masterpiece that is "Macalania Forest" in a dull song that is "Lightness" by Death Cab For Cutie.
"Macalania Forest" is not used in FFX-2 because a) Hamauzu's talent would be wasted on such a crappy game and b) Noriko Matsueda and Takahito Eguchi decided to make a new version of it (which is far insuperior to Hamauzu's version).

Okay seriously I don't know what is with this bizarre trend lately but you people need to stop putting band names in quotes, and you need to stop immediately.

Maybe because it is respectable and it is the proper way to address a name. Its been around for a while now.
