As iv gotten older i have recently been pissed off about the childish image FFVII has got. I still like it but not as much as i used to due to the entire fanboy image that has surrounded it. Why has FFVII gotten these kind of fans??

Also, this has recently gotten me pissed off because apparantly "My game doesn`t live up to FFVII expectations" to some people...:/. Although, i have to say, that not all FFVII fans are fanboys of course but many are. And yes, i expect Prak to rip them apart.....

I like Final Fantasy 7, but not the extent of being such a crazed fantatic. Because when you look at it the game as a lot of weak aspects to it, that doesnt make it great. I really dont have a favorite FF and am still saving up money to buy all the older FF's at once.

But I do understand where you are coming from. I dont like the whole image people have given FF7 as this 'holy game'. and how every FF is nothing compared to it.

I expect Prak to come by, and tear everyone who defends FF7 to bits.

Rabid FF7 Fans.

But recently, i searched for my game on google FFVII:THE DARK CLOUD, some forums liked it (especially the german one :/), but some others just shot it down stright away saying that there will NEVER be a worthy FFVII sequel......idiots..

Hes probably destroying FF7 fans, with his all-mighty power.

FF7 fans remind me of Inuyasha fans, they are both very rabid and easy to defend what they hold dearest. Stay still while near one, and you wont get hurt.

Yeah I agree with your rant Dirge.FFVII is not the ultimate RPG all these idiots seem to think.I could think of quite a few better RPG's.Zelda and Diablo come to mind.

Diablo....FFVII had some depth to the charcters at least the most you get in diablo if your lucky is slightly different dialogue...still wouldn't go as far as to say its the best FF.

Maybe so Shadow Lurker. But Diablo has incredible depth. If bastards didnt hack your account and take all your decent items, you could get months and months of gameplay out of Diablo. It might lack dialouge and look wretched but it has substance.

Also, the constant discussions now with the relationship with Cloud and Tifa and Aerith and the such. Ill admit, I did participate in the discussions, but never did I go into this full blow by blow detail on how the relationships impacted the characters. Actually, any discussion now that deals with that topic just annoys me, I dealt with it to much before.

But I agree with you, too many things are commercializing the game and its ruining my love for it. I like FF7 and I did enjoy playing it, but the fans and the obsessions over the characters is way to much for me.

Well, actually it'd be more like beating a horse that just won't die despite internal bleeding, ruptured organs, a cranial hemmorage, and a few dozen broken bones. Prak's pretty good at lashing the FFVII franchise, but fans keep it alive somehow.

I'm personally offended that you guys left me out of the equation. Prak isn't the only one who tears apart the game, you know.
*shrugs* I have nothing to say. I haven't been here in a few days.

I just noticed that FFXII seems to be using a battle system that sounds very similar to Star Ocean's. Controlling one character in a real-time battle while leaving the others up to AI? Sounds like Star Ocean. Still, I do rather like the FFX system the most. Anyway some of the fanboys and fangirls of any given game or franchise are disgusting. Look at Star Trek. Perfectly good series. Attracts the sluggish computer cave people of the world.

Y'know, I love Star Trek. But even i wouldn't go so far as to say it's a good series. Most of it is self-indugent, with little or no character development. In fact, the only series to get the character development right is Star Trek: Voyager, and everyone hated it.

As for Final Fantasy VII, I don't get the fanboy-ness either. I'm one of the PlayStation generation, so FF7 introduced me to RPGs - but honestly, it's 2005. We're on the cusp of the next generation. We're surrounded by games like Final Fantasy X, Jade Empire, and World of Warcraft.

Let go of the past already - it's good, but it's no longer the best.

Final fantasy 7 was the first ff game that i bought and i thought it was really good at the time, but now I can see that its not the greatest thing in the world as it is so outdated now.

Rhyfelwyr
07-02-2005, 02:51 PM
It may be outdated in graphics but that's not the only thing that make's a great game, the fact that FF7 was the first FF game I played does give me a slightly bias view towards it, but i believe it remains the best FF to date, simply because it's got the best storyline and sidequests. Though that is simply my opinion ^^

FF7 was the first RPG I ever played and it def got me into that genre. I just didn't stick to the idea that "FF7 FOR LIFE!!! NOTHING ELSE COMPARES TO IT!!"

I mean I like Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy 9, Suikoden 2, and a lot more games much more than Final Fantasy 7. But I liked that it was a strong introduction to RPGs to a 9 year old (I think that's how old I was when I got the game).

Well actually first RPG for me was Secret of Mana which is excellent and kinda grew up watching my older bro play FF7, I've played FF1-9 including all the spin-offs such as Mystic quest, so i really can't say that its the best.

I thought that side quests in FF9 were quite challenging, i found breeding chocobos the only hard bit to be honest which got quite repetitive and boring, my point bieng that Fanboys\girls have a certain state of mind when there "Masterpiece" is attacked, that is avoid all commonsense and throw out tired and old points, that have been shot down and pray the other person gives in, so as has been stated its like beating a horse that just won't die despite internal bleeding, ruptured organs, a cranial hemmorage, and a few dozen broken bones.
