A towering story of strong enigmatic men and loyal, beautiful women caught up in an explosive confrontation in an tropical land.
Costaguana, in the late 1880's. A backward land, rife with corruption violence and greed, where life is cheap and passions run as high as the temperatures.
Politics are volatile, but Charles Gould is taking advantage of a brief lull in the hostilities to reopen his silver mine in Sulaco, a primitive town sandwiched between the rainforest, the mountains and the sea. For the liberals it means jobs and prosperity for all. For the wolfs, it means wealth and power, beyond their wildest dreams - if they can seize control.
Then disaster, a revolution. President Ribiera is assassinated and the country torn apart by rivals warlords. As opposing forces march upon Sulaco, Gould becomes obsessed with saving the silver, whatever the cost. There is only one man he can trust, Nostromo.
Nostromo puts to sea full of noble intentions, but fate is against him. The silver seems cursed to tarnish all who touch it.
When he returns, hailed as his country's savior, he bears a terrible secret which will unleash the forces of death and destruction.
