A Franz Waxman classic remastered from the first generation tapes contrary to Ryko’s 1998 CD edition! Among the golden-age composers, Mr. Waxman was certainly one of the most contemporary sounding. For example, the writing for the woodwinds in Tara Bulba’s track “The Black Plague” is very similar to the woodwinds playing in John Williams’ track “The Droid Battle” in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. John Williams must have studied this score very closely. This goes to show that like Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams was inspired by the music of Maestro Waxman. I would really appreciate a link to this edition, dear CrowmanB. Thank you very much in advance.
