Ok, so new development: If I have javascript turned on, this appears:

Redirects me. Working on what I need to specifically block to continue to access the site without issue

If I turn off Javascript, spoilers can't be open for links/passwords

EDIT: Just got a Database error. That's a first.

EDIT2:

Been getting the McAfee trojan fake popup all day then trying to download an exe error, at first I could not even get access to the forum as it would instantly get this fake popup then error screen.
Disabled java (thank you wickedxice) and least managed to get access to the forum.

But if you go to the main site ffshirine.org it actually got to the trying to save an exe to your hard drive (release.exe) then my AV instantly flagged it as Win32/Kryptik.GXDT threat.

I had not visited the main page until I saw what Sera said. I can support what Sera said. If you go to the ffshrine.org, an file will automatically try to download.

Malwarebytes didn't automatically say anything, but I scanned it:

At this point, being on this site is like trying to build something on quicksand. Best to just get out and stay out for a while. It'll either fix itself, or it'll go completely. Redirects/popups were one thing, but maliciuous .exe files (trojan horse? keylogger? cryptocurrency miner? I dunno) are another thing entirely.

Blocking automatic downloads may be an easy 'fix' to this, but really... it's plug one hole, another pops open. It's a damn shame, but if anyone was holding out of things getting better...

Spoiler tags used to work just fine without javascript.

To view spoiler tags now, at least in firefox, open the menu bar option 'View', 'Page Style', and select 'No Style'.

It's sad to see the site in this situation...
Things are quite crazy on my side as well.
I'm replying from my phone as I'm away from my PC.
But If you guys want something I posted I could remove the spoiler tags from the post you need.

Yes, of firefox itself, you may have to hit [Alt] to get it to show.

Hey, I found a solution!
Add this rule in uBlock -> Settings -> My filters

forums.ffshrine.org###ad_global_below_navbar
forums.ffshrine.org##script:contains(ismobile)
forums.ffshrine.org##script:contains(showpopup)

If you have any other blocker, I'll explain the rules. The first one is blocking a div id, and the others block 2 functions inside the script. The bottom two aren't realy necessary but it's just to be sure

I can confirm: even with Javascript back on, this stops the popups/redirects, and removes the spoiler button, so we can see under it without issue

What the shit. I couldn't access this page until I followed Kyle's advice on adding those 3 urls to ublock's filters. God knows how I even received that email in the first place. I'd still be locked out of the site otherwise.

Well, I'm really hoping this isn't the end.. I know a few users that have a large amount of things stored, but it pales in comparison to this whole site. If something else springs up, someone let me know! There are a few of us on the subreddit, usually on down days. My username is the same. Whatever the next iteration is to be I'd certainly like to be a part of it.

uBlock filters didn't work for me either, just disabling scripts. The main problem disabling scripts causes is that spoilers can't be opened, but there are solutions:

Firefox: In Firefox's menu bar, open 'View', 'Page Style', and select 'No Style'

Chrome: Install the "Web Developer" extension, switch to the "CSS" tab, and select "Disable Inline Styles" (bottom left; has to be done every time)

Hope this helps people get what they can before it's likely gone for good. And here's the subreddit:

That solution definitely doesn't work perfectly, as I turned off my fix and tried just yours, but it was a no-go. No harm using yours on top, but uBlock Origin filters are more than sufficient, in my experience; disable JS too, of course.

Now, to Chrome Users who are having trouble with the spoiler boxes not working, due to having to disable scripts, and don't want to install a whole extention-- I sure didn't-- if you add the following code to your uBlock "My Filters", it should auto-open/display the spoiler contents:

forums.ffshrine.org##.spoiler:style(display: block !important)

No problem. The only downside would be if you're on a page with a lot of spoilers, like this thread's first index page. It's a minor trade-off. I hope with all fixes provided users like NeoKilling & VyseLegend can go back to sharing OSTs. ^^

I don't want to lose you guys and all this. It's been many years. I've amassed a collection around 800 Go of music, with a lot from uploads here. Quite a substantial part of it is from this very thread, lossless V2 and V3.

I've tried contributing when I could. But to lose all this work, damn!

On reddit, there is someone who has a database of all the links around these threads, but it'll be a pain to maintain. Do we have any alternatives yet? Back on V2 there were talks about a new host or something to migrate to.

It's been a pleasure meeting you, if the site sinks before we can move to greener pastures. Thanks for the melodies, memories, and smiles. You're all a great bunch on fine people. Thank you!

Alright guys huuuuuge question. I'm tagging the Blazblue Sound Complete Box and I want a good wealth of opinions on this. So I'm going to mention ahead of time that I'm not very good at tagging metadata for music and haven't been for the longest time. But I want to re-upload the sound box with good enough tags for archival and accuracy sake. I know that tagging composers and performers is pretty easy but where would something like "arrangers" go? In artist or album artist?

Where would something like a recording and mixing engineer go?

blood_falcon

Usually in Foobar2000, you can put the tagging arranger in a comment box. Or you can just add the arranger's name inside artist name

Most go with a "Arrangement" or "Arranger" tag, though there isn't a huge need to make mention of the arranger, unless the track/album is an arrangement. Generally, the composer + any relevant additionals e.g. remixer/mixer, vocal/performers; sometimes the performer is the arranger.

If the track is arranged, then the arranger would also be in the Artist field, unless the arranged track has a vocal; I'd put the vocalist/band in the Artist field instead. If the entire album is an arrangment done by one person, or entity (such as is the case with doujin/indie releases, then they'd also go in the "Album Artist" field too

I tend to go with:

Composers, Arrangers, Vocalists

All in the artist tag. And if I'm feeling bored I add more information in the comment section.

But that's just me.

We should really go through all the forum posts and copy the download links to the spreadsheet (and probably include the original poster's name as well). If FFShrine shuts down, all of those forum links will be completely useless. Plus many of the links no longer work, so it would be a good way to identify the dead links. If we crowdsourced it, it probably wouldn't take that long to copy all 3891 links.

---------- Post added at 08:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:27 PM ----------

Also if you add the following filter in uBlock Origin, it will automatically expand all spoilers even if you have Javascript disabled:

forums.ffshrine.org##.spoiler:style(display: block !important)

You can create additional tag categories like "Vocalists" so you don't lump them together with artists. Don't want to mess up your artist play count that way since "Aimer" and "Aimer x Chelly" will appear as 2 different people, for example.

There are so many entries in the list that I would like to remove because the
downloads are gone and the users haven't shown up forever.

Another one also had the idea to simply write the download links directly into
the spreadsheet, additionally with the respective password.

But I don't know if I want to put more work into the list than necessary.
