"Dear Great Pumpkin, I'm looking forward to your arrival on Halloween night."

SYNOPSIS

October 2016 marked the 50th Anniversary of the animated TV special.
The original sponsors, as seen during the original opening sequence were Coca-Cola, and
the Dolly Madison brand of baked snack foods.

The kids celebrate Halloween, with Linus hoping that, finally, he will be visited by The Great Pumpkin.
He explains to Charlie Brown, and anyone else who will listen, that you must be worthy in order to
receive a visit from the Great Pumpkin. He even convinces Sally, who is smitten with Linus, to
forgo trick-or-treating and wait with him in the pumpkin patch.

THE SOUNDTRACK

The jazzy soundtrack was the work of genius composer Vince Guaraldi with his Sextet.
I've created a new complete soundtrack (version 3) from a recently found
source containing "split audio" similar to the Austrailian DVDs.
Although the music was recovered from a separate channel with the dialogue eliminated,
some minor fx still remains in a few places.
("Breathless" and "Pack Up Your Troubles / Roses of Picardy" are two such tracks)
The "3D" spacial effect has additionally been removed to provide a cleaner representation
of the original soundtrack.

P.S. None of these tracks come from the recently released "Craft" soundtrack which is inherently loaded
with fx, compression, repetition and truncation of songs.

Enjoy!

Thanks! So this isn't the music/effects track but still has some effects? I wonder how that happened. If a PAL video source was involved, the pitch might be off. Is there a lossless version instead of mp3?

Unfortunately no. The only sources I've found in the last 50 years (if you can believe I've been looking that long) is the BluRay audio tracks.
The current BluRay edition has dialog+fx on the (C)enter track, music+fx on (Lf) and (Rf) tracks, and music+fx on (Ls) and (Rs);
very similar to the Australian disks I've been working with.

Sorry no lossless here, just AC3->MP3. Luckily this was an American NTSC copy so I didn't have to deal with adjusting the speed for a PAL disc (which turns out to be about -3 semitones).

Since a music-only version doesnt seem likely, I'd take a re-recording if it were true to the original. How hard could it be?
So the blu-ray was your source? Interesting that there were fewer effects.
Blu-ray.com says it has DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, but it only contained AC3?

Thanks for doing the work to extract this for us! It's my favorite of the Charlie Brown specials.
