Jak 1 and 2 used samples based MIDI-like music, with each track having at least 2 variations (normally), some as many as 4. You could not fit all of those on CDs without going overboard and literally wasting plastic.

Game mixes are different from what Josh Mancell sent LRG. Josh's files were his first "final" mixes given to Naughty Dog to serve as reference.

Thanks very much for the share! Ever since Mr. Mancell started sharing pre-console versions of his PlayStation work, I have always wondered if they would get some sort of release. QED, years of patience has payed off. And the cutscene music! As far as video game music goes, it tends to get overlooked and I never thought we would ever get to hear Hopkins' music sans voices and sounds. "Landing in the City" and "Metal Kor Defeated" sound particularly beautiful (to me at least). Thank you again!

ahh man shame there's no Dead Town music one of best tracks on game.

Actually, Dead Town is the track "Empty City" in this soundtrack (pre-console, bear in mind).
