I think Guy Ritchie approached the film as kind of an Bollywood movie, where these type of songs are normal. I also had hoped for a more classical and traditional way, but hey, it's Disney after all. Anything is possible, wether it's good or not :)

Actually in this case i feel its right. Its still keeping the feel of the old film with the new in menken's score plus the addition of the songs mainly the smith sung versions feel as tho its taken from the broadway if you listen to how friend like me is in the broadway and prince ali.

So personally i like this version as it shows both the animated and broadway plus a new feeling its own

OH MAN! I wanted to chronologize this so bad (I only like my Menken music in chronological order) and THANKS FOR LENDING A HELPING HAND! I just finished watching the movie and twas 95% great. Aladdin is my favorite so I had high hopes.

ONLY 2 problems I have
1. modernizing the songs (One Jump Ahead's pop instrumentation ruined it). All other songs still sounded great along with Speechless)
2. CGI for the Genie looked good at times and bad (his pasty body and eye movements are fake as f) at times. The special efx and magic scenes were 100% great.

Well Escape From the Cave is actually a bad title for that track, it plays right when Aboo touches the red gem and then the Cave of Wonders crashes down and they're stuck in the Cave. They don't actually escape. Bad title imo.

Exactly! A more appropriate track title would be "No Escape From the Cave". In the movie, when the Genie gets them out he just uses magic and poof, they are out. It's not an action scene, they don't even ride the carpet out like in the animated movie.

I managed to grab the following off YouTube before they got deleted. Basically, 4 official film clips (including Prince Ali and Speechless) with isolated music, vocal, dialogue and SFX tracks. I have my doubts with this one because it's Alan Menken and unlike Marc Shaiman, he has a lot of pull with Disney on top of being very protective of his music. For example, with the live action version of Beauty and the Beast back in 2017, all we got instrumental-wise of that was a karaoke recreation of eight of the songs from the OST, and a spliced together 'Prologue' parts one and two on the deluxe edition of the soundtrack.

When I saw the notes about the Japanese deluxe edition of the Aladdin 2019 soundtrack and how disc two would include the instrumentals (or karaoke sound sources as the Japanese called them), I was of course excited because the Japanese did include the original Coco song instrumentals on their deluxe edition of that. However and as I posted earlier on this thread, it later transpired all they were releasing was 'A Whole New World' but at least it wasn't the awful end title version.

Now it's still early days (they didn't release the original Mary Poppins Returns instrumentals for a good two months after its OST album release for example) so we may still get them. Only time will tell on that one.

It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who was disappointed with the end title version of "A Whole New World".
The voice of Zhavia Ward and the way she performed it was more than inappropriate to be honest. Otherwise, I thought it was okay.

Well, all the songs have been orchestrally extremely changed, but the more I hear them, the more I appreciate them.
They are just different, but still good. Also, it works pretty well in this live action adaptation, I think.
Now we have two different versions to enjoy. :-)
