Avengers Age Of Ultron (Recording Sessions) 108 Tracks WAV - Brian Tyler And Danny Elfman

Hey guys, here is the complete recording sessions to Avengers Age of Ultron by Brian Tyler and Danny Elfman. This version was given to me by a friend of mine as a way of thanking me for making those custom complete scores of mine, and also in hopes of making a future Renegade Edit of this score (which I am taking in consideration of doing).

Unlike the 61 track version, this one contains 108 tracks with over 3 hours and 30 minutes of music, plus a few extra bonus tracks.

So without further do, here is the link and Track List:

I appreciate your effort in keeping the best quality possible, but why not FLAC or ALAC? That would keep the exact same quality at a considerably smaller size.

Anyway, thanks :)

These are unfortunately lossy. From what I know, there's two separate bootlegs from AoU that got meshed together and masqueraded as one set. Elfman's material is at a pretty dismal 128k MP3, while Tyler is at a pretty good 256k AAC (though there's an odd cutoff at 19 kHz). The 61 track set only has the Elfman cues sourced from the OST, while both that and this set use a pretty darn obvious digital copy rip for the End Credits. That being said, the lower quality tracks sound alright for the quality its at, and there's so much material here that there's a lot to uncover (including an unused main theme that nearly replaced the Silvestri one we all know and love). So it's to be appreciated despite the faults.

Thanks for the upload, op. I do like the AoU score quite a bit. This is a very expansive set, having set it up in MusicBee now. I've been listening to it as I've been uploading and it's surprising how much music was done for the film. Now.. anybody got a clue as to the credits? All three discs are untagged, so you'll need to fix that side of things on your ends. MP3tag is the best program for that. I'm guessing the credits are not going to be as easy as comparing to the Tyler leak and tagging the rest as Elfman, unfortunately.

EDIT: Scratch that. Op's second link (the one on the main post) is all fully tagged with artist credits, so I'd go for that one. Great share and thank you for the updated link with tags, op.

I really wish they'd left more of the Brian Tyler music out and used more of the unused Danny Elfman music. I'm syncing some of it up the film and the unused Elfman music just works so much better. I really like Elfman's leitmotif for Ultron and his unused material really makes it shine, when it's barely present in the actual film. I can see why Whedon brought Elfman in for Justice League because his stuff for Age of Ultron is fantastic. I wonder if using more of Brian Tyler's music was a decision by studio executives because it sounds like more traditional blockbuster scores. It's a shame really, as Elfman's unused material is just great.

Let's not forget, however, the Tyler's main theme was basically done away with. And so many of his other pieces were also butchered/repurposed for other scenes. So it seems to me like both composers got screwed in their own ways.

That being said, I agree that Elfman's score is more appropriate in places. It is the more "superheroic" of the two.

---------- Post added at 08:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:43 PM ----------

Both scores were treated very poorly. On the final film, the score is a Frankenstein monster of material by three different composers (Tyler, Elfman and Silvestri).

It's utterly bizarre, after all, if Marvel wasn't happy with Tyler's score, why didn't they asked Elfman to just rescore all of the movie? What was this nonsense of "we want you to write alternates for this and this, but not this, here we're using Tyler and here we'll be just tracking Silvestri's original score"?

The music in this movie is just a mess, and a disservice to all of the talented composers that worked on this film.

Quite frankly, with how butchered the score is in the final film, the only possible thing I can see missing at this point are inserts for some scenes. Anyone attempting a "film mix" isn't gonna get very far.

Thanks so much for this, definitely one of the most interesting scores around as to what actually happened.

I really love Tyler's theme and his "watch your language" cue is amazing but it's so odd how Danny Elfman came in and wrote a lot of material and then lots of his stuff was just tracked with Silvestri??

HunterTech
05-20-2019, 03:39 AM
Considering the rumor of Tyler being let go because of his commitments to Furious 7, I get the feeling they initially hired Elfman just to fill in the blanks, considering much of the score had already been done at that point. But once it was decided that they needed the Silvestri theme in there as the main Avengers identity once more, they asked him to rescore scenes with the originally written main theme to spice things up a bit. And then Whedon presumably decided some cues didn't work as well as the temp track, resulting in the mess we eventually got.

Yeah, this really is a disservice to everyone involved, and the worst part is that the final soundmix actively drowns the score so low in the soundscape, probably in a shameful attempt to hide how mismatched everything is. MCU scores weren't really highlighted in the soundtrack to begin with, but I remember seeing AoU in the theater and noticing how poorly leveled the music was. Judging by previous leaks, Tyler's score was a lot more complete than it appears on the official releaseprobably missing the reshootsso it's not like he just bailed with chunks of the film left hanging as it has been made apparent. I imagine he ran out of time revising cues at Whedon's request, but things were already broken by that point. If they just needed a fixer, why not give John Debney a call? Having Elfman start everything from scratch barring Ultron's theme would've been a more sensible choice (and worthy to his talents too); but instead, forcing him to meld his material with Tyler's coherently suggests that Marvel wasn't giving Elfman a full paycheck for the effort.

In retrospect, I was genuinely excited when Brian Tyler was announced to score this film; but even back then, I felt that his merits wouldn't measure up to Silvestri somehow. Nobody expected his contributions to be disgraced like this though. It's a shame, because his original material sounds really good, even if a new avengers theme wasn't necessary to make it work.

From a financial and logistical standpoint, no, it isn't the sensible choice. A new composer means a new contract, more money, and more time to get the new guy up to speed, especially if they're composing from scratch. As butchered as the final mix was I understand why Disney made Elfman fill in the blanks.

I think there might be missing music from the Seoul chase, probably composed by Elfman (or one of his collaborators), but I'm not so sure, I would have to watch the movie again.

I think that part might've been tracked from Avengers 1. Again, the final product is a mish mash of pre-existing stuff and parts of both Tyler and Elfman scores, so trying to gauge what could be missing on the AoU front specifically is difficult.

Yeah trying to make a list of tracks is a nightmare I am finding. There's like 8 inserts in the first 50 minutes alone. You can clearly tell some music was taken from Avengers 1 to replace both Elfmans and Tylers material. Showing just how little the movie makers trusted either

Wow! Thanks for sharing! Does anyone have any ideas of who did each cue?

I'm not sure about the composer credits of these tracks:
"2m16A First Line Of Defense"
"3m17 We're The Avengers"
"3m17 We're The Avengers Rev"
"4m42 To Be Born Again"

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think they're Tyler's work.

There's a cue that plays in between Wanda Switches Sides and Can You Stop This Thing? in the movie, but not leaked on this release. Does anyone know what this, or if it's an insert from somewhere else?

It's Elfman's unused "Party Fight". Then as Nat jumps out of the truck, about 3 seconds of "Avengers Tower Reveal" plays. After that, part of Tyler's "Intercepted" can be heard before it switches to CYSTT.

I assume Tyler scored 99% of the entire film and didn't do the part where Thor talks about the Infinity stones in the Norn cave.

And that without mention additional composers like Paul Mounsley, Chris Bacon and T.J. Lindgren doing most of the Elfman material.

To be fair, Elfman entered production so late (only announced about 2 months prior to release) that it probably warranted needing the others for his time on the project. Whereas JL was enough time (about 5 months prior to release) that he at least had storyboards to start with.

What exact credits do we have? I think the only Elfman ones I've seen are the OST tracks. Tyler I was told never credits his additional composers on cues, so I don't expect any for AoU.

Half of the Elfman material comes from them according to the BMI and GEMA repertoires.

Many times, "alt" can just mean a different take. That is probably the case here.

I believe It's the Low Brass in the first few seconds as it's mixed slightly louder and cuts off in the alternate.
