Hi! I'm Jarfeh, I made this account a little bit ago but never really used it.. So here goes!

The first video game I ever played was Super Mario Brothers for the NES.
I wasn't alive during the 80's, so I think it's pretty neat that the first video game I played growing up was on a game console 20+ years older than me! :D

Hi and welcome. My first game was Super Mario Brothers, followed quickly by Zelda, Dragon Quest, Excite Bike and Golf. I grew up in the 80s. I'm pretty sure I still have the nintendo boxed up some where in storage.

Oh boy, the wonderful scrolling shooters, gotta love em, gotta hate them. I believe I had a shooter called Xevious on one of those multi game joystick thingies, and god I got pissed at it, great memories..

My first video-based gaming software was something called, Devil May Cry 5.

So far, this video-based gaming software fad seems like a hit! Hopefully it doesn't go the way of the telephone and vanish into obscurity.

The second game I ever played is easy: Super Mario Bros.

The first game I played is tricky, if pounding my paws on a few buttons cluelessly counts. It was Popeye. I'm sure of that. I'm a little confused about the medium. I don't think it could have been the 2600, because the graphics on that port are so poor that I don't think I would have ever recognized it as Popeye in the first place. I don't associate it with the NES, though I remember it looking more like the NES version. Information on the NES release history is vague in general. I'm seeing the US release dated prior to the nation-wide launch of the NES, but it's never listed as a launch title, and what are the odds that I would have encountered it before Super Mario Bros on an NES anyway? I actually remember it as the whole arcade cabinet. My babysitter took me to someone's house, and they had converted a closet into a room where a bunch of teenagers were gathered around watching this game, and I remember it being huge. Was it though, or is that just because it was novel and I inflated it in my head? I dunno. I can't even find conclusive confirmation on a quick skim that Popeye was released in the US as an arcade cabinet. \_(ツ)_/

Mine was Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, developed by BioWare. BioWare's basically dead now...

It certainly was. I played it many times.

I mean, I believe you, but that article doesn't say anything about it.

I suppose in hindsight the fact that original English language reviews of it exist suggests that it shipped outside of Japan heh

Hover over the first image: "U.S. Popeye arcade flyer." Underneath the image it says "North American arcade flyer."

I don't remember so well but my first one I think it was The Sims. I didn't have a computer back then. After that, when I got my first computer, it surely was GTA San Andreas.

One night on the TV news I saw a story about the craze surrounding a recently-released video game which was soon to become my first play: Space Invaders.

Space Invaders was a real thrill. However, I think it was either Donkey Kong or Pack-Man.

One of the Commander Keen games, I think. If not that, then the original Super Mario Bros or Castlevania.

I think it was Battle Realms, I was completely addicted to it that I'd fight my way to the PC against my sister just to play it.

I still love it, even though it hasn't really aged well.
