put the dark protecting things on i forget the names of the armour with anti-dark or whatever it's called but equip it all the same

Ozma, was such a waste of enemy.

Ok, just have everyone protected against confusion and poison. Make sure they have any armor and weapon that can either half-damage or totally protect against shadow damage. and I always had dagger healing, and if she goes to trance, just summon bahamut well. Zidane's limit breaks work well also, especially that lethal dyne attack.

oh, and follow what eric_g_08 said, find all the friendly monsters and give them what they want. then you are able to physically attack him.

Ozma is one of those optional bosses. To get to him you need a chocobo right?

well anywhoo, you need to do a bunch of side quests and shyzz to fight him. hes in the chocobo air garden, in the eidolon grave. its pretty much a pointless battle, really, its not worth fighting him

It's just this giant multi coloured ball floating in the sky. Really strong and hard to beat.

the story isnt that great, and imo ff9 is one of the worst ff's i ever played. i didnt like it at all...

i never said it left loose ends i just said i dont fully understand it...ok i understand it until kuja makes you go on that journey to that place :S....and after that i got completely lost its like theres 2 worlds inside one...weird shit game

At last someone who shares my views on FF9. =)

Simple way to defeat Ozma is to put Garnet(plz dont call her dagger it sucks)back row and use as much possible Arc+heal the party.Next you must have DarkMater for shadow protection and Dark armor.After that hit him with Vivi's black trance magic and with Grand lethal Zidane's.....ohh and Garnets trance! sexpot

btw do what do we get by beating him? i didn't have the patience to play chocobo hot and cold, the story is well constructed but i don't like it very much...

You don't get anything interesting when you beat him. Just a Pumice I recall.

There are different strategies in approaching Ozma. Darkness-guard equipment is a must (Pumice Pieces and Egoist's Armlets, right?). Also have everyone in Auto-Regen and Auto-Haste, and have everyone use their strongest attacks.

You might want to fight some battles and build up everyone's Trance meters so one hit will send them all in Trance. Works great and it buys some time so Regen can cure your guys.

just a pumice? you do know that the pumice is the way to get ark, right? you need the one from ozma and the one you get from fighting ark in the weird place where you can't cast magic.(i used A LOT of potions and stuff there). then, you take these two peices and you go to hades' synth shop in the final area place...crystal world or whatever it's called..........the place in the portal above the Lifa tree or whatever it's called. you have to find hades(easy to find) and fight him and beat him. then, he opens up his synth shop and synths the two peices together and then you get ark.

(apparently, people have told me that there are more than just the two pumice peices mentioned above. they have told me that you can get one from the chocographs, and one more, i just can't remember where. not sure if this is true though.)

But if you reached Ozma, you should have by that time two pumice pieces since pumice pieces are given treasures of the chocographs and you need to pass the Chocobo quest to get to Ozma so.... nothing special...a pumice....bah

Oh and Ozma gives you a PUMICE, so it's not needed another one, Ark can be learned right away

BTW dont you guys think that the max damage in FF9 is 9999 its suck?I mean whats the point to doing the Zidane's Grand lethal when you can do almost same damage with(Free Energy =-O ).Also none's trance is good exept Vivi's that atacks twice,Steiner=Atack up,Garnet=auto summoning(i call it that way :p),Quina's=COOK(WTF???),Frey's=Cool spear atack and so on.

P.S Playing with chocobo is very funy one =)

Very much so cause I used cheats just to see did you get anything good from beating him,cause I wasnt sure was it worth leveling up for,And he still kicked my ass.

I beat ozma when my strongest character was zidane on about level 65 and the other 50-60.
Sometimes he did 9999 on each character so I had to keep trying until eventually i beat him with theivery and frog drop. They only did around 4000 and 7000 respectively, but he don't have much Hp really.
