So when they give you a "Take Down" notice of your files, does that mean someone reported your links or do they inspect your uploads?
I uploaded 12 links yesterday and they are down. My other ones from a while ago are active.

If they were reported, how does one get around that? Have the user request via PM and not leave links posted in the threads?

Is it safe to reupload on MEGA or would it have to be a different file name?

For a year or so now someone (or some bot) has been trolling threads and reporting Mega links. Like you said, most people to get around this will PM links instead.

Well the fact that it was only yesterday's uploads and not all tell me it wasn't a random bot. It was definitely a troll.

It happened to me ; I advise you to only ask for PM links instead of putting the link directly in the post, no matter the host service (in this forum, I realized that direct links dies very quickly)...

At any rate, it would seem some of you folks need to read on a couple of things:

1) Refback - This simple system, coupled with automated spiders and bots, caused the "death" of many links back in the days of the original megaupload.com and rapidshare.de (45 seconds wait+captcha for the former, 15 minutes of wait between each download for the latter… Good times). We had a sticky thread over at what still was a single download links forum tell users to avoid using the likes of megaupload, 'cause they had this domain on their "blacklist"… Whether the term was used in jest, or not, is irrelevant… It was not that uncommon for megaupload links to get taken offline within 15-30 minutes of public exposure.

2) Reporting a link - I don't know if file-hosting websites changed the way they handle this sort of stuff, but whenever curiosity got the better of me and I clicked on those "Report a DMCA violation/illegal material", websites returned me pages where I was asked to identify myself as someone legally authorized to act on behalf of the copyright holders and report infringing material.
Do not forget that this board is (or used to be) among the firsts results returned by the likes of Google for years, I'm sure there is more than one user that might be delighted to get back at another one and do whatever he/she can to be a nuisance, still, I'd advise you to not forget what arguably is the most logical explanation, folks.
