Quartet Records recently re-released Jerome Moross' splendid THE BIG COUNTRY on CD. Although I have all the other previous incarnations on LP and CD, this one, put together from the same sources as the Screen Archives Entertainment & La-La Land Records ones has a surprisingly superior sound quality. The Film Score on Disc 1 almost sounds like cleanest Stereo. The two LP presentations on Disc 2 are a nice bonus, although sounding like on LP's in fact (the processed Stereo version still gives me shivers...).
I included a page from the previous La-La Land Records booklet that lists the Orchestra performers (including a fantastic Vincent De Rosa on Horn, Dominic Frontiere on Accordeon and a young John Williams on Piano).
