Myself having ripped several soundtracks over the years, i can really appreciate the amount of time spend on this rip!

Just a few friendly tips:

* Tracks are not in order.
* Volume mixing is a bit off, some a low and some are higher.
* Deadeye can be heard sometimes. as it lowers the in-game music. (but it's hard to play without it)

Other than that this is great work and all the songs are named and tagged. Great work OP.

Don't mean to rain on the parade, but I am the one who did the rip of the original RDR and posted to these forums. I am currently in the process of editing all of the tracks for RDR 2 and I have to tell you, there are a hell of a lot more than 66 tracks. I count 800+ full tracks. That's not even including the licensed music which I am not ripping. It's also not including a bunch of RDR Online exclusive tracks that are very difficult to get full versions of, but I will try once I get closer to completion.

My experience ripping RDR 1 has taught me many tricks to accessing full tracks in a game where you would otherwise only hear a minute of a track. In fact they made it even easier by allowing you to pause time by opening the log, while maintaining the music! This allowed me to really get some quality versions and full tracks. I am willing to bet most people don't even realize that there are about 25 different tracks that play in the open world depending on the region, and while that may seem wrong, it's because it is. You see, there is a Day and Night version of EVERY track, and also a "Idle" and a "In-Motion" version of each of those. So those 25 tracks are really 100, maybe more. I am still figuring it all out.

With all due respect for your effort, your rip only has 1 track per mission when in reality there are generally 5+ per mission. It's great you were able to get a rip out there, but for those looking for an absolutely complete rip, stay tuned.

My main focus is Woody Jackson's score at the moment. I am avoiding the licensed stuff because I have to assume that just like RDR 1, it will all be on the official OST. If it turns out that something isn't on the OST, I will try to get it for everyone. Please keep in mind that while muting the sound effects does allow me to record the music, the sound effects slider is also tied to a selection of music tracks, especially during cutscenes. Actually, I am not even sure how much cutscene music I am missing since I replayed the whole game with the sound off.

Omg.

Please please please please please upload or send me the track used in this video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsbuoEY_qj8) and I will have your babies. All I know is that the track is from the mission where Dutch fights the American soldiers with Arthur.

Also just out of curiosity is there are place where the rips of the RDR2 tracks are being discussed extensively? I'm desperately waiting for an official soundtrack from Rockstar and there's literally been no word since about 2 months ago.

Worry not friend, I was able to get almost every single Main Story Mission music track. The bad news is that there is so much music that the editing part is taking a very VERY long time. Much longer than I expected. It has been a busy few weeks and I haven't had much of a chance to get back to it. After tomorrow I am going back to the grind, Expect the rip in at least 2 weeks but no longer than a month. Doing the best I can, but it will all be worth it in the end.

Sure, I have a few minutes. It turns out this may be one of the tracks I will need to re record because I am not sure if it contains the full loop. Well I am sure it does since the longest track I have found is around 4:20, but for most tracks I recorded about 8-9 minutes so I can get the full loop at the starting point that I find most fitting.

Although I'm noticing something seriously off with the sound. It doesn't sound like it's in Stereo format to me, or it might just be my ears. Sounds like the music is being played through a hallway. Would changing the sound settings from Stereo/ Surround make a difference in the recording?

I am not sure what you mean, this is a direct recording in stereo. These are live recordings of live recordings, and I cannot improve the quality of the original mixing. I think what you may be describing is the manner in which this music was recorded in the first place. The "hallway" sound is inherent of the way Woody Jackson recorded both this and RDR 1. I recorded all of the music at the highest quality possible. Play my track, and then play the track you sent me in the youtube video. If you can't notice a huge improvement in quality in my version, I don't know what to say. :(

I've got to agree with IzzyBlues - the stereo separation on the MP3 you uploaded is much narrower and hollow sounding than the YouTube clip he linked to. I'm not sure if it's intended to sound like that or not, but your MP3 is definitely not as "full" sounding as the YouTube version.

I think you are both right. I am not sure what went wrong, but after some testing, I hear what you are are taking about. I have the optical cable routed through my receiver, as it is the only way I am aware of to record PS4 sound directly. I don't know what the problem is or how to fix it since I am not a sound engineer. I am pretty devastated right now, because I don't think I have it in me to re record that whole thing again, especially since I don't even know what went wrong.

UPDATE: I have horrible news. I was able to pinpoint the recording issue. There is a "Dolby bypass" button on my receiver that apparently needed to be activated in order to get the original sound. The entire rip is ruined :(. I have to start from scratch but I have to be honest, I wouldn't expect it for a very long time. No one is as disappointed as I am, but now that I know I messed up the audio, I would not be happy knowing the rip was bad.

Thanks to IzzyBlues and AchillesPDX for pointing this out, I was about to spend another month editing bad recordings.

Sorry, that was the wrong file, but yes I have definitely identified the problem. I usually always use my headphones in my receiver for gaming and I use the dolby surround. I guess I was just so used to that type of sound that I assume it was normal. I didn't realize it until you pointed it out as well and I went back and compared the audio on my new Rokit 5s. The mistake was quite clear. When I begin the new recording in the next week or so, I will create a WIP thread and stop hijacking Hakkes fine rip thread. This time I will edit as I go through the game and upload as I go as well so I can get feedback from everyone. If you and Izzy didn't point this out it would have been a much larger disaster. I didn't edit too many tracks, so you saved me a month of wasted effort, thank you.

Here is the correct link of the test for those interested, The shifts occur at :50 and 1:00.

Damnnnnn that sucks man. I'm so sorry this happened to you but it's a good thing you noticed it now.

And yeah, the shifting is very noticeable at the 0:50 to 1:00 point. I had a feeling that the sound had sounded very skewered which was how I was getting that "hallway" sound with the original recording.

I'm keen to try my hand at recording this particular mission theme as I think it's a good benchmark to use because of the snare drumming and all of the other instruments as it helps space everything out. If you want to start a new thread so we can discuss this in more detail send me a PM and I'll keep an active eye on it. I have to work out how I'm going to do it.

I spoke to AchillesPDX through messages and he helped me sort some things out and we figured out exactly what was causing the terrible quality. The main thing was the method in which I was recording. The receiver I was using isn't made for this type of recording, so I bought a new sound card with an Optical IN since my Mobo doesn't have one. It's in the mail and will be here this week so I will begin the re recording then. Look for a new thread or I can pm you.

Here is my upload of the full Favored Sons Mission Theme. This was recorded through the Line-In port on my PC so there's a tiny bit of audio interference that you can hear when it's silent, but as soon as the music plays it's unnoticeable.

I did my very best in trying to get every part of the score in it's fullest length and I did a little bit of editing to make sure the tracks slide in as smoothly as possible.

Any feedback is appreciated. :D

Rockstar are yet to release the official soundtrack, the last thing we heard about it was from a Newswire post in January saying to stayed tuned for more news coming about the soundtrack. I'm not sure what's taking so long.

In the meantime some users such as roncoallstar are ripping the entire soundtrack. The Favored Sons upload I did was just a one off.
