There's some theoretical chance that I'll do someday shorter versions focused in the performances for my own use. In that case I'll share them here. :)

Thanks to aescalle for the nice LSO-style covers.

Thank you so much Kooke.
My health kept me well enough to go to the performance.
It was amazing - atmosphere and everything - LSO and Dirk was ace.
If anybody was a perfectionist they'd notice odd notes or on a hit and miss.
But if your one, like myself who went to enjoy and bring back old memories from home in childhood and so on - along with wanting to see the man himself - it was certainly well worth it all.
looking forward to your uncut aac copy.
uncompressed 48.
I certainly wish John all the best - and stood up each time the audience did to applause him and LSO also.

I took my recording from the DAB broadcast, but will compare it to all of the other versions here before deciding if it's worth uploading

Yes, if your DAB broadcast doesn't have volume correction I'll be very interested in it!

Unfortunately it does, and although my Arcam tuner has an option to add or remove compression this doesn’t take into account whether or not this is done on the broadcast end. From a brief listen to this upload there’s not really any huge difference.

I’ll compare this to the recording on my PVR, although I did listen to this last night and it’s definitely rife with volume adjustment

You're welcome, friends. Congratulations to aseef and other lucky ones who attended the event. It must have been very special, with such fantastic performances, Williams' soul all over the place and knowing he was listening to the concert with friends and family in the same city.

In my opinion anyone's recording is worth sharing, no matter the quality and even if it's redundant (mirrors). I'm sure some of us are curious about yours mr_merrick, so please share if when it suits you. And despite the thread title ("Classic FM broadcast", darn), it would be great to have phone recordings and other resources.

Edit:

AACs added.

Thank you Kooke,
It mean't so much that I didn't even know if I'd make it there.
Everyone on this site is a good person and those who where kind enough to share with me also.
It was indeed a great night.
Get well soon John.

I'd just like to point out that the cut in sound was due to the audience praising John so much that it was way to much for the microphones.
They praised him really well.
Not due to broadcast issues.

I am sure Classic FM will put it out on one of their Cds for sale. It sounds so compressed even one i made. Not worth bothering with in my opinion as there are many perfect versions out there of this stuff. A Life in Music new CD with the LSO which features most of this stuff

You're welcome, folks.

I am sure Classic FM will put it out on one of their Cds for sale.

That would be fantastic for us, and a good move for them to bury the flaws of the radio program. bollemaneke and me wish you're right. :)

There are two new links in the first post, for .m4a formats, and the cue sheet in the Spoiler.

And to those unaware of it: there's a load of videos, images and other info in http://www.jwfan.com . Check them out.

Thank you so much, it sounds well enough to serve as a good keepsake for those of us who were there.

Now, out of curiosity, may I ask how you got the 192 kbps aac/m4a version? In my case webplayer won't go beyond 48 kbps no matter what.
Thanks again!

You're welcome, enjoy. And thanks, Londonist, for refreshing our one-degree of separation with the concert.

Yes, their web player uses the lower bitrate only -by the way, the concert was available there for a few days as .m4a that was longer due to the trailing adverts-, and they broadcast the "HQ" 192 kbps separately for the mobile app, with the same bitrate as DAB and satellite. I googled a bit, got in touch with someone who discovered how to save it (it's also a raw AAC) and he kindly showed me the procedure. He requested the details not to be published, but his site is easy to find; or I may direct there anyone interested, via PM.

After the concert I uploaded the .aac, and days later, the .m4a. Like with VBR MP3, my players didn't like the cue playlists with pure AACs; but when wrapped in MP4 container, those .m4a files worked nicely. That's a merit of the format that could make possible the use of cue playlists with VBR MP3, as MP4 accepts this codec too. But I didn't test it yet. [Yep, a nice digress to hint bored experimenters]
