Hi everyone,
My Knockout Game has been running for 8 years now! It's gone way too quick. If you want to take part in this year's game we're still running it, go here for more - Thread 226723
But every couple of years since the 4th year we've added and removed characters from the game that are underperforming. For the first 4 years, there was 9 characters from each FF game from FF1 all the way to FF14 and also FF Tactics. Then 4 years ago we removed the underperforming characters and added other characters from the more "popular games". Then 2 years ago again we removed a few more characters to make room for 9 new FF15 characters. We now have a total of 129 characters, with the previous winner taking the year off year upon year.
Finding the right balance between having popular FF characters and equal games represented has been difficult. But over the last few years I made a rule which was we'd make sure there was at least 6 characters from each game being represented. And I do intend on keeping that rule.
But we can still make adjustments and add new characters and perhaps revisit old characters into the games to keep things more fresh. So that's why I've made this thread!
16 underperforming characters will be removed after the 8th annual games. And to replace them, is one different character from each of the games we're using. Sure, this will mean certain games in the series will have more representives but I also think it's for the better of the game going forward.
What I'll do is suggest three characters from each of the 16 games to replace them, and your job is choose your favourite of those three.
Some of the characters have been in the games before and if they have, I'll explain how many points they accumulated and when they were removed. But every Final Fantasy game has at least one brand new representative, and it's your choice whether or not to give them a shot or bring back some old blood for a second chance.
So, here are the contenders! Please choose one character from each FF game!
FF1
Lich - Was removed two years ago after getting 14 points in six years. Does he deserve to return?
Kraken - Was also removed two years ago but was only in the games for two years, getting 3 point in total. Was it harsh to cut him so soon?
King Cornelia - brand new, never played in the games before.
FF2
Josef - Was removed two years ago after getting 13 points in six years. Does he deserve a second chance?
Minwu - Was an early casualty four years ago, getting 4 points in four years. Can he make a comeback?
Scott - brand new, never played in the games before.
FF3
Xande - A personal favourite of mine, he was removed two years ago and got 7 points in six years. What do you think about returning him to the games?
Cloud of Darkness - The main villain! However she got 5 points in four years before getting removed four years ago. After featuring in Dissidia again, does she deserve another shot?
Hein - brand new, never played in the games before.
FF4 - none of these characters have played in the games before, who's your favourite to have their debut?

Fang - Was kicked out two years ago but got 7 points in six years prior to that. Do you like her? If so, give her another chance!
Barthandelus - Another personal favourite of mine, the main villain from FF13 got 6 points in four years before getting the boot four years ago. Would you like to see him again?
Nora - brand new, never played in the games before.

Gaius (aka Zulvaan) - Got 6 points in four years before saying goodbye four years ago. Shall we give him an opportunity for a comeback?
Hydaelyn - brand new, never played in the games before.
Cid nan Garlond - brand new, never played in the games before.
FF15 - none of these characters have played in the games before, who's your favourite to have their debut?

Malak - Malak was in the games for six years, getting 10 points in that time before being removed two years ago. Does he deserve another go?
Meliadoul - Four years in the games, 4 points in that time. Has been out for four years. Shall we put them back in?

Before I wrap up - you may have noticed I've not announced which 16 characters are being removed yet. Why? There's a simple reason for that, and that's because some of the characters that are set to be removed are actually still in this year's game and are doing relatively well. So if they end up having an amazing game this year, they may actually avoid being removed completely and force another character into that slot. So when it's all set, I'll announce the characters that will be removed. It may be at the end of Round 2, but if one or two of the characters have a super year, it may even be Round 3 or beyond! :)
