Here is another awesome cover from DaUpp, just simply amazing. Please give rep to DaUpp.

Hey there fellow shriners, back with another Renegade Edit, this time, its the soundtrack (Remastered and Improved) to the 2000 black comedy horror film, American Psycho. I first want to give a big thanks to Poleman, for creating the Unofficial Soundtrack that was posted a few years ago, which was basically the inspiration for getting me to make this edit.

Based on the novel by Bret Easton Ellis, and directed by Mary Harren, the film follows Patrick Bateman (Brilliantly Portrayed by Christian Bale) living the life of a wealthy investment banking executive by day, and a serial killer by night.

Having the film take place in the late 80s, met that there had to be a great variety of songs in the film, especially from that period, and holy s**t there was, having some amazing songs from amazing artists such as Phil Collins, New Order, Book Of Love, Katrina And The Waves, just to name a few. There were a lot of great songs in that film, so when you first hear that an official soundtrack was released, you automatically think its gonna be jam packed with awesomeness... boy would you be dead wrong (pun intended). The soundtrack was everything but awesome, or, at least not as good as you were hoping.

1. 60% of the songs were not on the official album, such as "Simply Irresistible" by Robert Palmer or "Lady In Red" by Chris De Burgh.
2. Some of the songs sounded terrible, either sounding flat or too loud to the point where a lot of tracks (on waveform) were full of clips.
3. The songs were not in the same chronological order like in the film.
And
4. There were a few randomly and unnecessarily monologue clips from Bale's character that were just in the way.

So I decided to search around the web to look for as many songs from the film as possible (using the IMDB page as my source) to create the best version possible. While I couldn't find all songs (and all of those songs I couldn't find like "Cuatro Milpas" by Francisco Gonzalez or "Try To Dismember" by Mj Mynarski were just Instrumental pieces that didn't really add anything to the overall flow of the soundtrack), but I was able to find most of the songs everyone remembers from the film. So while its not entirely complete, it is definitely a hell of a lot better than what we officially got.

I also made some improvements to the songs. Just to give a few examples:

1. I did my best to have all the songs have the same amount of volume.
2. I replaced the 87 version of "True Faith" by New Order for the Remixed 94 version because for one, both the 87 and the 94 version are pretty much the same (both for beats and sound) and second, the 94 version was cleaned up and remastered by producer Stephen Hauge, and just sounds better, plus you can actually hear the lyrics to the song.
3. I removed the Ronald Reagan line in the beginning of "What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy)" by Information Society.
4. I add a little bit of Bass to "Sussudio" by Phil Collins to give the beats a little bit more of a kick.
And
5. I used EQ to get rid of some of the flatness to all songs.

I also decided (for the second disc) to include a couple of songs that I though should've been in the film, one of them being "Far Side Of Crazy" by Walls Of Voodoo (which, in my opinion, should've been the song for the End Credits). I also included the original versions of both "Something In The Air" by David Bowie and "The Greatest Love Of All" by Whitney Houston, and also included the unused songs from the official soundtrack.

And yes, ALL songs (including the promo score) are in FLAC format

I also decided to included the promo score by John Cale as a bonus, just with a few editing touches, and a few tracks combined as well.

I really hope you all like it, So without further do, here is the link:

Here are some more covers by DaUpp. These covers are just truly amazing, they really capture both the tone and spirit of the film, stylistic and terrifying.

Cool. Still haven’t seen or heard this. Looks like a good version to grab. Thanks for your effort.

There's two versions to watch:
Original aspect ratio in 2.4:1, and then the open matte version (German bluray) in 1.78:1.

Hey Dark Knight 86

I noticed that you received a link from ponytear for the "Risky Business Collection: official CD + complete score + complete ST + extras" a few months ago. I've tried to contact ponytear but I haven't had any success. Do you have access to that material? I would love to get a link to the download. Sorry about posting off topic.
Thanks!

Thanks for the share and all the work. Just two questions out of curiosity.

1. What version of Phil Collins' Sussudio did you use as your source? Curious because the track from the 24KT Gold Limited Numbered Version version with label "Audio Fidelity (3) - AFZ 10 / Atlantic ‎– 81240-2" seems to have more bass than your version which you mention you bumped in terms of lower frequencies. This album should be readily available in FLAC should you choose to switch tracks. Or you could message me.

2. Considered adding Deck the Halls?

Regards.
