Here is the 16 track promo I had gotten from Young's assistant a few years ago. I'm pretty sure this the OST that would have been if it had gotten a physical release. This is definitely true lossless as I checked the spectral view myself. Enjoy.

Hey thanks for the upload! Very nice to see!

Sadly these are still lossy source, very higher end lossy but lossy still nonetheless. You can see especially the quieter parts have that 'fizz' :/

Still better than my edition though!

Actually, I think it's possible that these are from a first/second generation source, based off what SonicAdventure said about some files on his set. If these were to be lossy, they look more like AAC encodes, which still make them better than most sets.

Anyway, thanks Vosk for finally posting this on Shrine! This set prove to be a nice resource. I haven't actually heard it in this form, but I'm sure Young arranged it well.

I should also mention that this promo is very out of order, even within the tracks themselves. For instance, the first Final Confrontation track ends with the music that plays when Peter is going to his apartment after fighting Sandman. Some others have even odder juxtapositions. I can imagine Young did this so it could have the "best listener experience" or the like.

Thank you for sharing this. This is such a solid and entertaining score and this presentation is by far the best a casual listener like myself can ask for. Young's new materials here are wonderful. The action parts are remarkable, crazy and like they say, adrenaline pumping. No one else has managed to take it this far for this franchise. He also captures Peter Parker's "Human" side of the story so well. If it wasn't for Horner's, I'd have said this is the best attempt at capturing this side of the character.

While it is understandable that the composer had to rework plenty of Elfman materials for the picture, those parts are about the weakest of the whole franchise so far - I really wish this approach hadn't be attempted. I particularly despise the uninspired and jarring assembly in the main titles cue - Young's and Elfman's material just don't work next to one another. That actually comes as a surprise because when I listened to those Young's replacement cues for the second movie I thought he handled those scenes so well - even better than Elfman - and none of it felt out of place. I wonder how it came to be the opposite in the third score, particularly for the opening credits sequence. Some last minute patch job, I guess?

The way Young's new material is interwoven with the main theme in the first track isn't my issue. I actually like the juxtaposition of it, since it gives a very good indication that you're in for a very different adventure. What I don't like about it is the performance of Elfman's theme itself. While there's some nice touches that Young adds to it, it overall feels incredibly hollow compared to the performances from the previous films. There's so many little nuances and touches that Elfman put in the theme that simply isn't there. It almost sounds like a cheap re-recording you'd find on some "Music From The Hit Franchise" CD that labels would sometimes release. The thing that really saves it is the new material, which certainly makes the whole piece stronger.

As for rest of the score though, I actually think the Elfman material is used very effectively. Nothing quite beats the awesome rendition of the main theme in "The Train (Part 1)," but they certainly are much better performed and utilized throughout. It's only when it comes to the Lurie and Debney material that I think the score becomes much more inconsistent with itself, and makes you just want to hear them on their own.

And yeah, Young's material in Spidey 2 is the best part about that score. Though I do think the Experiment music does get a bit repetitive, and ultimately find the temp track it's based on to be better.

I want to thank you again while I'm listening to this right now :D I've been waiting for something like this since 2007 ;) I added it next to Sonic's version and Lurie's promo, which I own on promo cd (if anyone wants it, but the source of it is lossy - something like The hateful eight fyc cd, which I also presented).

I also have this 7-track promo that people discussed on FSM forums, but I don't own a physical copy, although source seems to be lossless as well

(I'll add links here if anyone is interested, so all promos would be together in this thread, but ..... wait, maybe everything is already covered by HunterTech here, isn't it?)
