matt damon
06-14-2005, 10:25 PM
well, it doesn't really matter because it won't let you burn them to a cd or put it on an mp3 player (at least, mine won't)

its not illegal so long as you don't burn a cd, give it to mates or if you sell it without giving any royalty's. it's also not illegal to download the music if you already own a copy of the c.d that has been sold legally by the company or said otherwise (yes a bit pointless to download if you've got the c.d, but it's the law).

clumsyjack

Oh and if you have downloaded the song but don't own the c.d, you have 24 hours to get rid of it. Don't worry i'm not threatening you, but if someone found out then you could end up with a hefty fine or worse, and sarah or ffshrine cannot be hold responsible for your actions if this discliamer is clearly stated.
i think sarah should make that clear on top post.

clumsyjack, This is what the official legislation from both the UK and US standards office:

UK:
"You are allowed to make/acquire a backup copy of any data you own, in whatever format you wish." Meaning, you can download music so long as you hold the original album, file or anything else. If you download the song/file without holding the original, I'd make sure that you have some serious privacy software.

US:

"It is legal to make a copy of a file/song, so long as you do not distribute that file to other computers/people." Meaning, you can make as many copies as you wish, so long as you don't give it to other people

The fact is you shouldn't be downloading anyway.
Not only does it prevent CD sales, but it is illegal and you can search any government site to prove this statement.
So why not spend 30 or 40 dollars on a legit soundtrack (not a bootleg) you wont regret it.

What's the point of buying the CD when you can download them, plus the Cd had been out for how long now, I dont know anyone who is gonna go out and buy one of these CD's in this day and age.

That's because you're a fucking thief and you think everyone else should be a fucking thief just like you, despite the fact that it would destroy the music industry forever. The point of buying the CDs is to reward the makers for their work and fund future projects.

Hence the reason why 34 people have been arrested in Dublin for uploading music on the net.Bastards deserve to rot in jail.

Which are commercially available, you fuckwit. If they were out of print or something, that would be another matter, but you can buy them, thus you should buy them. Not doing so makes you a fucking thief and thinking otherwise makes you a retarded fucking thief.

I didn't know that they were still commercially available, and please do not call me a thief because I am not one, I just didn't know they were still available in stores.

Here, here, Prak. I agree with everything you said. the only time you should download something is when you want to buy the Soundtrack but you want to hear a sample before you buy. That is acceptable, but not legal.
But ripping Square-Enix off, is completely low. You can the soundtracks off CDJapan or Game Music Online for a decent price.

Musicians need the money!!! Why don't you all just fucking start to buy things??? They puted lots of work into the musics so that people like you could listen to they art, and what do we do? We steal the musics and let the singer/band broke and the music industry in a mess, stop with this , just start to BUY the things that you want, like it's suppose to be
