the most depressing song, without it even meaning to be, that i have ever heard is it wasnt me by shaggy. it bothers me to no end. 1.) i hate shaggy's music style; 2.) i hate his damn voice; and 3.) it talks about cheating like its a walk in the park.

That's is quite depressing, but still fantastic. Also Severed Lips by Dinosaur Jr. though it has one of the best lyrics ever "I never knew a rubber doll could be so hard to please," classic stuff

Most of Pink Floyd's work, especially anything off Dark Side of the Moon or The Wall. Comfortably Numb and Wish You Were Here are especially brilliant, yet utterly depressing works that really strike home their melancholy ideas of loneliness and isolation...

Richard Marx's Hazard is another song that really makes you totally down in the dumps.

agreein'. Both ones are sad.

Mad World by Gary Jules always instantly makes me melancholy, but I love it.

And Obstacle 1 by Interpol is another one of those melancholy songs that I just can't help but listen to.

And I guess Landslide by Stevie Nicks is sort of similar, but not really that depressing. That cover by Dixie Chicks or whoever was absolutely terrible and a disgrace to Stevie Nicks >:O

The entirety of Nico's album The Marble Index, especially Frozen Warnings.
The Smiths - I Know It's Over (yeah, I know)
amongst others.

Then there's such as Leonard Cohen, Joy Division et al which isn't depressing per se but certainly is very downbeat.

LOL! Aren't you just a cute little thang!!? LOL! Just kidding. No, I was harsh for several unmentioned reasons, but I stand by my opinion. That entire band can die a slow and painful death. Her music is the result of what happens when you date a douchebag from another poser-emo band, and then break up. She just basically sings about her pathetic excuse of a dating life in all of her songs, and fucks herself with a rake. I rest my case.
