Old Western PC games tend to be neglected on FFShrine, so I'll try to make some of this forgotten VGM publicly available in lossless (lossless is much rarer than lossy music; lossless is collector's quality, lossy MP3 is for cellphone playback).

Heretic 2 (https://mega.co.nz/#!ragVRIoL!AAAAAAAAAABjnAmWqGTteAAAAAAAAAAAY5wJlqh k7Xg) (PC Mixed Mode CD)

Hexen II (https://mega.co.nz/#!aa51nS4A!AAAAAAAAAACMn6tgTTNqWgAAAAAAAAAAjJ-rYE0zalo) Note: I cannot recall where I acquired this music from, but it seems to be a standalone audio CD release. I recently split the cue using Foobar (the right way).

Hexen II Portals of Praevus (http://www.mediafire.com/file/rbncyt35mimxrmi/Hexen_II_Portals_of_Praevus.rar/file) (addon mixed mode CD)

Hexen (https://mega.co.nz/#!ae4TFaKZ!AAAAAAAAAAAms7KDWXc4nwAAAAAAAAAAJrOyg1l 3OJ8) (PC Mixed Mode)

Hexen (https://mega.co.nz/#!iOx1hQSL!AAAAAAAAAACK_kWP6uG_6QAAAAAAAAAAiv5Fj-rhv-k) (from the Sega Saturn Mixed Mode CD) . The Saturn CD has fewer tracks, and the tracks sound different from those from the PC release (eg PC tracks have excessive stereo separation). I prefer the Saturn music but recommend you download both versions.

Also have a look at the free fan remakes: 1. Heretic & Hexen by Sycraft HERE (http://sycraft.org/content/audio/index.shtml) (only the Hexen music is available in lossless)

2. Hexen & Heretic at Solar Studios HERE (http://www.solarstudios.net/music.html)

EDIT: These rips, bar Portals, died last year along with my mega account. I hope these shall last much longer.

The track titles for Heretic II can be found here. (Thought this might be helpful!)

From comparing the time signatures, it appears that only track 15 is missing from the Heretic II album you posted.

Thanks for the list of track names Shevchyk.

I believe the thread is complete now, but if I am missing anything, feel free to share.

It seems that Abandonware has made Heretic II available (https://www.myabandonware.com/game/heretic-ii-3kz). Which means you might be able to obtain all the original redbook audio CD tracks. Which might be helpful to you?

If the version there doesn't provide all the tracks, I'll pull out my copy and try ripping the last track from there if it comes to that.

Though I suspect someone on Youtube has probably made the fifteenth - and final - track available, for completists such as me.

And whaddayaknow, it's available on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=va4BreEtI2s&list=PL277636A0749DC2AA). Tracks 2-15 (as track 01 is pure data) have been renumbered 1-14.

Hope all of this helps! Long live fans of obscure but otherwise awesome music! :)

YES ! Definitely. While it's not "difficult" to get these games soundtrack considering they're all included in the games as .midi files, few people took the care to properly convert them in .flac, so thanks for this ! Hope to see a lot of classics, Rise of the Triad, Shadow Warrior, Heretic, Blood & more !

Thank you immensely! 90s games were what I grew up on, so it's nostalgia city with these. Rep will be added!

Now if only someone could scrounge up a full (and I mean every note :) , in order) lossless versions of the LucasArts games The Dig - Michael Land, Lucidity - Jesse Harlin, Dark Forces (94, the first) - Clink Bajakian/Williams, and Full Throttle - Peter McConnell. Those were some phenomenal and now absurdly hard to find scores. The Dig especially was great; mysterious/ethereal/a bit ominous, with ambient tracks just as good as the more musical ones.

Can you give me a few hours?

I have copies of The Dig and Full Throttle, and *maybe* Dark Forces (I've an extensive collection of game scores, it's just a question of *where* some of them are).

That said - the copies I have are not lossless (i.e. FLAC) - they are in MP3 format as I have a bit of a tin ear and can't tell the difference in audio quality past ye olde standard 44,000khz or so, and thus have all my files in the format most friendly to all forms of technology - MP3s.

(This sounds like a prelude to a bad first date, "it's not you, it's me!" :-) )

If you're willing to accept MP3 format, I'm happy to provide you the albums.

What timing!

Ponytear, just today, posted a link to The Dig soundtrack:

Thread 82616

Very bottom post ("New link here including : game rip, additional soundtrack and official soundtrack.")

Came across it completely by chance!

Will focus then on the two other outstanding scores, if this suits your needs?

That was good timing on The Dig, and I'm definitely interested in the other two scores.

Really curious to see what tracks are with Full Throttle. I remember reading ages ago (probably on here, though I'm not 100% about that) that, once you've got the files, some of the music would need to be manually reconstructed to match how it appears in-game as it was saved as individual elements and layered in by the game itself. Not sure if my memory of that is accurate or not. I'll take whatever I get and like it! :)

The kick is, at one point in the early 2010's, someone on here posted a version of The Dig that was, essentially, everything, including the cutscene/cinematics tracks (albeit with some low-level sound effects/ dialogue on one or two of them). The tracks were all named, in order, and lossless (guy or gal must have been a huge fan of the game). And I had it... for a few years, until a complete hard drive failure happened, and it turned out The Dig was a score I hadn't backed up somewhere else. Can't find the thread now, but after the crash I remember going back to it and finding a dead link. Pretty sure he posted it all on Youtube as well, but as with the thread, I can't find it (and wouldn't know how to rip it from youtube even if I did). Lesson: make sure to back things up and then CHECK that it's actually backed up lol.

Thank you for your efforts!

Thank you for chasing me up on that. I do have a comprehensive Full Throttle score, and will see what I can do about locating the score for Dark Forces. Will post Full Throttle later today and Dark Forces as soon as I can find it!

Thanks Shevchyk!

Quite welcome!

I've created two different threads to make it nice and easy for you. If you go to the main directory of the Videogame scores, you'll see threads for both Dark Forces and Full Throttle. Wanted to make sure you - and anyone else who might want them - couldn't miss them! :)
