Sega is coming out with Phantasy Star Generations Trilogy 1-3 on PS2. They revamped the graphics, and tightened the stories a little bit, bit it's still basically the same three games PS fans played on the Genesis. And rumor has it that they will release PS4 revamped Spring 06.

Also, Phantasy Star Universe which I heard was sorta cool. I don't like PSO that much, it was alright when it came out but I got bored pretty quick.

I pretty much think it's not really worth buying unless they've added new story lines

The remake of Phantasy Star 1-3 have been rewashed with high-res graphics and goodness. For the most part, they're worth a play even if you have beaten the originals back and forth. Consider this like the Final Fantasy Origins of Phantasy Star... just a hell of a lot better.

On a side note: Phantasy Star Online: Blue Burst is in US Open Beta right now. For those who are interested in trying it out, go to www.psobb.com. The game is basically Episode I&II ported to the PC but a whole mess of changes (in terms of structure of online play) have occured. For example, it is very hard to hack the game compared to before on the console games. There are now GMs to fix problems and players can form "Guilds". Episode IV (an expansion) will soon be released in the US once the Open Beta is done. The game is 8.99 a month, the software to the game is free.

I might possibly get the game, but I'll return it if it's bad

I liked PSO, but it lacked an real story line, and every enemy looked almost exactly the same. Forest = Boomba Caves = Sharks Ruins = Dark Boomba sharks?

That's what we call an online game there.

Oh burn.

But anyways, seriously, if you don't have nothing nice to say, don't say it. :(

Anyways, the PSO:BB is going up and down and all around. Good luck trying to get in.

I really hope Sega gets off thier ass and makes a PS5 pretty soon. We need a difficult turn based RPG again.

Personally i never really got into the Phantasy Star games. I tried to dear god i tried but they just didn't grip me enough on the Megadrive (Genesis to you lot! =) ) I did enjoy Phantasy Star Online for the Dreamcast however so i'll probably give these a go when they hit the stores.

That's funny, I started this thread last month, and it's about PS re-releases, not PSO.

I don't see why you have to pay a monthly fee. I know why you have to pay a fee for MMORPGs. But playing with 4 people at the same time max in a pregenerated dungeon a al Diablo 2 doesn't cut it for me. This isn't no where near a MMORPG. I've tried the Beta, it's allright, but I'll stick with my WoW. =)

I prefer playing the phantasy star games offline, actually.

If you have 3 other people to play with, Phantasy Star really doesn't give you a big reason to go online.

It's still fun stuff though.

I tried PSOBB at Crub's suggestion... I didn't really like the feel of it. It felt way too much like a linear RPG, just one you could play co-op on.

I prefer MMORPGs with a sense of achievement and like you're part of a real world - Final Fantasy XI fills my niche qute nicely.

I never could get into MMORPGs. I don't know why, I just couldn't.
