Dream Collection Main Thread (Thread 222991)

See the trailer with music samples on YouTube. (youtube.com/watch?v=h3yZxsm3mS0)

After my hiatus (which lasted a little longer than initially planned -- apologies!), The Dream Collection is finally back with a brand new entry, "The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad"!

Notice the new liner notes format; among the new changes/additions are an extensive writing concerning the film and its score, and a more refined "technical notes" section. This new format will be used for all Dream Collection entries from this point and onward. In the future, I also plan on compiling the complete Dream Collection series into a big, fancy, two-volume set (the first volume designated for animated films, the second for live-action), wherein new liner notes for the first three soundtracks ("Rescuers", "Fox and the Hound" & "Sword in the Stone") will be written. This two-volume set will also feature a number of exclusive goodies -- I can't give anything away just yet, though!

For now, just know that I have plans to update all of these Dream Collection soundtracks at some point. If you have any suggestions as to what I could improve, change or fix (i.e. audio editing issues, liner note mistakes, or other problems), please tell me! I want this collection to be the very best it can possibly be. Your feedback is vital.

EDIT: Drat!! I only now noticed the two typos on the backside cover art ("An Unexpexcted Reunion" & "Old Ochy")... How unprofessional of me. Well, there's one thing I ought to fix in the 2-volume set...

This set includes:

Songs
Score
Instrumentals
Bonus Tracks
README / Liner notes
Song Lyrics

Yet again, Dave999 (cover art designer for The Dream Collection) has offered an alternate cover for this particular set. Give it a look:

Wow, I don't know where you found that artwork but it beats the one I used (although you used that too).
Personally I'd change the font for "the dream collection" title and get your title credits away from the bottom edge. Then I'd definitely use yours rather than mine.

The font on the dream collection is walt ograph the official disney font, but okay.
And the text is lower coz of space on some, but okay.

Thanks.

Thanks! You know, I recall that you were one of the folks who commented on my very first rip (that awful one of "Sword in the Stone"), stating that my proposed "Ichabod and Mr. Toad" rip had you "stoked"... Ha. Better late than never, I suppose.

Thanks for the effort! If I had to nitpick, I would say that the various fonts make the whole composition a little busy, and that it seems a little crowded around the bottom. Nonetheless, those are all great (I particularly like the last one, to the right!), and I appreciate the contribution.

Beautiful and splendid work like always my friend, thank you...the next will be Cinderella?

Thank you! Seeing as we just covered an Oliver Wallace score with "Ichabod and Mr. Toad", I will actually be putting off Cinderella until a little farther down the line (that goes for any other Wallace-related works, too, such as Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan, Old Yeller, etc.). It will be here soon enough, though!

That sounds like me, but my patience more than paid off - this really is an awesome collection.
I think you're being too hard on your Sword and the Stone collection, which was nice. What's great, though, is you can track your evolution when you compare that collection to this one - your process continues to improve.
Every great creator has a drawer full of prior drafts :)
Absolutely looking forward to seeing what you have planned for the future. Cheers!

I've been re-listening to this great masterpiece of your work today (Halloween) and what an amazing listening experience.

Any chance that you can add some of the cut material as a bonus, especially the "Witching Hour" cue?

PigmaskCol
10-31-2018, 09:02 PM
Glad to hear you're still enjoying it!

I could add some of the cut material for an updated version, but I fear that the abundance of effects would drag the whole thing down a little, especially in cases like the court sequence score (it'd be jarring to have a single SFX cue in what is otherwise nearly ten minutes of clean music). Nevertheless, I'd be willing to put together a bonus suite of cut score cues if you'd like! Just give me a little bit to dig up the source 5.1 files... They should be sitting on one of my old flash drives, somewhere.

I'm not kidding when I say that the "Witching Hour" cue is nearly unusable, though -- it's more like listening to SFX with a side of music. The sad thing is, I'm willing to bet the masters for that cue are still around, but the DVD restoration team just utilized the music & effects track there to heighten the impact of the SFX. Really a shame, since Wallace's touch there is simply spectacular.
