Hey,

My love for movie scores really started when I discovered Pirates of the Caribbean action music (before that I only knew about He's a Pirate). My love for movie scores and instrumental music grew a lot since then, and I listen to pretty much every genre, but I still haven't found heard anything that appeals me as much as POTC action music, except for other Hans Zimmer scores that are in the same vein (Gladiator, The Lone Ranger). I had high hopes for Goeff Zanelli, he was my pick to replace Zimmer since 2011, but I was extremely disapointed with his score. If anything, it made me appreciate On Stranger Tides' score more.

Now that even Pirates 5 disappointed me in terms of music (didn't care for the movie), I need something to move on to. Basically what I am looking for is heavily-thematic orchestral action music. I know there is a thread named THE BIG ORCHESTRAL ACTION MUSIC THREAD!, bu there are so many pages, and what I've listened to there wasn't heavily thematic, which is the reason why I love POTC music so much (there are so many incredibles themes, playing non-stop in every action cue!).

Can somebody help ?

Check out Shirley Walker's (and friends) work for Batman: The Animated Series. Character themes/motives were a very important and distinct element of that show, and the music and orchestration itself is sublime.

Guy Michelmore did some great work on the animated marvel movies! POTC 5 really disappointed me as well, not just the music, even the sound of the score sounded so weird and ugly.

@TheSkeletonMan939 I'll check this out, thanks !

@hahah123 Exactly ! I cannot understand how the sound can be that bad compared to Barbossa is Hungry or Palm Tree Escape, which were also composed by Zanelli. I guess it shows the importance of Zimmer's presence.
