This is certainly much better than 96k AAC, but not quite lossless either. I'm not sure how to describe it.

The spectrum is very strange. It looks lossless except for some possible damage in the 8-11 kHz range. Never seen any "lossy" formats remove data in this range...it is always the upper frequencies that humans have trouble hearing. The audio is 24 bit and 48,000 Hz so it is very high quality otherwise.

I'm assuming that's the music track. Don't know how that compares to this digital rip for those who are looking at quality for editing purposes. I'm well happy with the digital rip anyway, sounds good to me. :-)

"English" would just be a place holder in the metadata, they aren't always strictly accurate on discs. Some reports about the news of the iso score were saying that it is also on the blu-ray. No great loss if it's not, this rip is fine for my use.

I've analyzed it, too. This is probably AAC-HE, using Spectral Band Replication. Everything above roughly 11 kHz is artificial and created during decoding of the AAC stream. The decoder knows how to replicate it by using information gathered during encoding. Now before any of you start thinking about faking lossless, forget it ;). This process requires said information to be collected, it is embedded within the datastream and you cannot apply something similar to lossy files that lack those information. Kudos to FilmScoreMedia for decoding it correctly, otherwise it would have ended up as a low-res file with a samplerate of probably 22 kHz where the frequency response would have stopped at approximately 11 kHz.

P.S.: the last sentence was written because I wouldn't have been surprised by wrong decoding as some people here use ancient en-/decoders.

My guess is that the recording we have here wasn't ripped digitally. I don't think he had access to the direct file, that's why he most likely recorded it using the analog output of his device, plugged it on his computer and recorded using Audacity.

Very unlikely. There is no evidence of noise or other artifacts that would indicate an analogue recording.

iTunes extras are not downloadable, haven�t been for years now.

It does sound better than the MA Apple TV app, which was only 2.0 and around 98kbps. The iTunes version is 5.1, 375kbps when played on my Apple TV.
