Composer George Dreyfus was hired to write an original score for the 1983 film "Tender Mercies," but director Bruce Beresford decided that the film didn't need an underscore and opted instead for the country music songs performed throughout the movie by Robert Duvall and others. This is a suite of the unused score, which is a little over 10 and a half minutes and appeared on "The Film Music of George Dreyfus Volume 2." It is some very nice music, although I agree with Beresford that the film was better without it. If you are interested, send a private message.
