I only have 10. But I have noticed there are lots of characters/things that show up in lots of the games.

1. CID - Airship pilot in lots of games.
2. Chocobos - OF COURSE
3. Mog, Cait Sith, Moomba into Dolls for Lulu in 10
4. FF1 Black Mage, Vivi in 9.

What other things are there? Do Shoopuffs appear in more than one?

Cheers,

Lukey

Yes; X and X-2.

X and X-2 --- yeah, obviously a lot of the characters and things you see in X crop up again in X-2. Many of the same monster-types show up from game to game --- particularly Cactuars and Tonberrys are noteable. Same with summon types, there are certain ones that tend to show up a lot, such as Bahamut.

That should answer any questions you have, but to summarise:

Character Crossovers
Several character names make appearances in many FFs. There's been a Cid in every Final Fantasy (excluding MQ) since FF2. These Cids are usually old, brilliant men who frequently control the airships. Cid was playable in 4, 7, and Tactics (Cidolfas Orlandu, also known as Thunder God Cid). There's also a Doctor Sid in TSW. As well, characters named Wedge and Biggs have been in 6, 7, 8, 10, and TA (and also have cameo roles in another Squaresoft game, Chrono Trigger). There have only been two real character crossovers in the FF series: Cloud from 7, who reappeared as a playable character in Tactics (Aeris also appears there but is only called the Flower Girl), and Gilgamesh from 5 who reappeared as a Summon in 8. He also appears in a few places in 9, where he's also called Alleyway Jack. Gogo, who appeared as a boss in 5 and a playable character in 6, is nevertheless two different characters who only have two things in common: their propensity to wear loud clothes, and their Mimic class. Perhaps they're distant cousins.

Two cameo crossovers go to Lone Wolf, the thief, who's behind bars in both 5 and 6; and Boco the Chocobo, who's Bartz's buddy in 5, is the Chicobo belonging to Squall in 8, and who's rescued by Ramza and Agrias in Tactics. CSW Khan mentions that the Japanese "initials" (first syllables) of Bobby Corwen, the Chocobo in FF9, is "Boco".

Hyne, the sorcerer bad guy in FF3j, is mentioned as the "father of sorceresses" in FF8 in a completely different context. It just possibly may have another crossover in the form of General Hein from FF: The Spirits Within (they're pronounced the same).

As a minor side point for other Square fanatics, Lucca from Chrono Trigger is in Lahan Village in Xenogears, as well.

As well, a few things not mentioned on FF Compendium, is Hilda, who appears as the Phynn princess in FFII, and is Cid's wife in FFIX. Also, there is a Sarah in FFI, III, and IX which is a spoiler which I won't go into details about. Incidentally, there is also a character named Jane in FFI and the FF movie.

Finally, besides appearing in FFV, VIII and IX, Gilgamesh also shows up in FFXI Online as well, in a totally different form from his previous incarnations (like Sarah in FFIX that too is a spoiler which I will not elaborate on).

Hoepfully this has helped.

I don't remember a Biggs and Wedge in FFX.

Biggs and Wedge were only in FFVI, VII, and VIII, though in FFVI Biggs was Vicks iirc.

Actually, they were blitzball players in X. Just thought I'd toss that out there since I can't stand it when ignorant people spout bad information.

See, that's the thing then. I couldn't stand Blitzball, the moment I no longer had to do it, I left and never looked back.

i also heard somewhere the cait sith is a random battle monster in one of the earlier final fantasys (5 or 6 i think).

That doesn't justify posting bad information. I can live with an ignoramus, but not a know-it-all loudmouthed ignoramus.

Oh go fuck yourself. How the hell was I being a "know-it-all-loudmouth"? Obviously you missed the "iirc" at the end of my sentence.

I'll agree that Prak was coming on a bit strong, although I too disapprove of people contradicting someone when they are in fact correct. The truth is, you could have done a Google search using the search terms "Biggs" "Wedge" "Final Fantasy X" and found out instantly that those are in FFX, but I will give that Prak was speaking rather strongly there. Perhaps in the words of Rikku in FFX "You didn't have to say it like that."

:D

You amuse me. If I've offended you, too bad. I tell it like it is. If you feel offended by the things I say, then don't give me reason to say them.

Ah, come on, Prak. Honestly, when I think about it, even I've made the same type of mistake at least a couple times myself. Haven't you ever? Can't we get back to the subject?

(And yes, I know that comment wasn't directed at me.)

Yeah, I overreacted a little. Stressed out over finals. Still though Prak, haven't you ever made a mistake like that?

Prak
05-05-2005, 02:17 AM
I typically don't make mistakes like that because I double check my facts before posting. Also, it's actually not the mistake that bothered me. It's the fact that you basically blamed the game for you not knowing.

Nanaki Muyo

If this wasn't a Final Fantasy forum, I'd be pretty impressed that you take the time to double check all your facts before posting.

Prak

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but what you just said implies that double-checking facts is to be expected on a Final Fantasy forum, thus making an utter fool of yourself on two different levels.
