J�hann J�hannsson, the Oscar-nominated composer of such films as �Arrival,� �Sicario� and �The Theory of Everything,� was found dead on Friday in his Berlin apartment, his manager said. He was 48.

Tim Husom, his Los Angeles manager, said that Berlin authorities are investigating and that an autopsy would be performed. Cause of death, thus far, is unknown.

awful news :( I saw him in 2016 at the Barbican in London, planned to see him again this December. An amazing composer, and was brilliant live. His solo album Orph�e was really great as well.

He was only 48 and "hopefully" he died due to a health issue than being tortured by criminals. Such a shame to die just at the middle point in life.

I loved Sicario' & 'Theory of Everything'. I had those two scores on my playlist for a year. I'm putting them back on now and letting the inspiration hit once again.

The first 20 minutes of Sicario is in IMO the best piece of cinema of the last 10 years, absolutely amazing, gripping and foreboding, and in big part is because of johannsson music

He certainly was one of the younger composers who had a musical personality and wasnt part of the "new hollywood sound" that I'm not very fond of. His musical creations weren't predictable or cliched, and his music was so atmospheric, whcih is somethng film music has been losing in the last decade IMO.

Ou damn. I'm still in shock and I can't believe, that Johann isn't beetween us no more. It's so unfair, he could achieve great things. In my opinion he could be next Ennio Morricone. I love his scores for Dennis Villaneuve's movies. You will miss me, Johann. :(

His music fit the movies but the music didn't work without the movies. Most of his scores were boring.

Apparently he never got further than the theme. I'm guessing illness is the real reason he didn't compose the score. Honestly, based on his other film work, it probably wouldn't have been as good as what Zimmer and Wallfish composed.

What a shocker. Thought we'd be hearing his music for many years to come.

It's a true tragedy he passed away so young, because he was such a remarkably talented musical genius. The scores for Prisoners, Sicario, and Arrival are ingenious. Sicario was my favorite of his work.
