Pardon my ignorance but what exactly are these tracks in relation to the score? What are demonstrational score demos???

Think of it like a rough draft of an essay. The demos are the score minus orchestra and some other instruments. Like a demo of a song - no backing vocals or drums. It's incomplete.

As far as I could tell, it's the demos of what went to be the complete score.
Not sure if it's something else, actually.

i have a link from another source if anyone wants to PM me for it. I'm surprised that these exist (I know about the sessions). Funnily, the demos are from Kurt Oldman and Timothy Williams, not Bates. But it's known that Bates doesn't write his own scores (Timothy Williams did the Titus ripoffs on 300) so it's not a surprise.

You didn't think Bates wrote 2 entire MCU scores all on his own, did you now?

I knew he had at least one additional composer (Tim Williams) but from having one or more additional composer to not even writing a single note in an entire career is quite different.

I think Bates writes music before the shooting based on the script and to inspire the actors. then it comes additional cues and help from his team to write a score to picture. GOTG had 4 co-composers.

Yeah, I remember James Gunn saying that they were all listening to some Bates as they were on set.

Same thing with Avengers Age Of Ultron. Elfman had Chris Bacon, Paul Monsley and TJ Lindgren writing additional cues. and in Justice League he had Pinar Toprak (she wrote Wonder Woman Rescue) and Geoff Zanelli (at least the score has a RC connection). Logan was mostly written by Brandon Roberts, Marcus Trumpp and Buck Sanders.

This is becoming usual on superhero scores. At least Mothersbaugh wrote everything on Thor Ragnarok and his arrangements on the previous MCU themes were original and not tracked cues. Giacchino did Spider-Man and Doctor Strange by himself as well.

There's Andrew Kawczynski that worked on a few (or more?) cues in Thor: Ragnarok. But still, I consider it to be mostly Mothersbaugh's work.

Much depends on composer replacements (Age of Ultron, Justice League and Logan had them at a late stage of post-production). I guess it's kinda normal when they happen at similar circumstances. Homecoming and Doctor Strange simply didn't have a composer replacement.

Been going through these and loving how much work they put into this score. It�s especially cool to hear the different versions of �I Know Who You Are�. I do hope that the film version of that cue (with the percussive �anvil� hits) does leak one day though.
