WHAT IS THIS?

Six soundtracks. 160 tracks. Thunder Force. Technosoft. Let's go wild.

Across these 160 tracks are the various soundtracks that make up all of the 16-bit Thunder Force games. I have remastered every iteration with the intention of making a "completist" collection to the best of my knowledge. I remastered the Sega MD/Genesis games back in 2010 and they sounded pretty good. This time, they sound brilliant. Strong bass, clear mid-range and crisp highs without the FM killing your ears. And yes, even the arguably weaker-sounding - in this context - SNES audio engine provides for a solid round with Thunder Spirits. The X68000 edition of TF2 provides a fascinating and fuller version of what is already an underrated, excellent soundtrack. And finally the arcade AC game provides an interesting alternative take on well-known standards.

Some tracks have been extended, and a couple in particular (you'll know when you hear them) have been re-edited to create fuller versions. Every game has the boss themes - as I usually do - arranged together to provide a superior listening experience, rather than following the game exactly. All of the OSVs except Thunder Force 2 MD and X68000 have "boss medleys" which rely upon gapless playback for full effect. Foobar2000, Winamp and many Linux players can achieve this.

As always, I aim to provide the gaming community with professional, big-sounding original sound version soundtracks of classic old-school games. And this is some of the very, very best music ever composed from that era. Enjoy!

Your work is incredible. Have you ever considered taking a crack at some of the Street Fighter soundtracks? Alpha 3 and Second Impact are just BEGGING for your treatment!

I'm reluctant to touch much in the way of Capcom's works that are more mainstream because they do already release a lot of soundtracks. However I did want to do the original SF2 Arcade soundtrack: I have the Nintendo Power CD that contains it and still love it to this day but I can't find the disc. :/

A couple of your tracks are broken in the same way mine are, like exactly the same....did you use the same method to mix them up or did you polish off the ones i mixed up back in 2016?

I don't check PMs or this site every day. Being passive agressive is unnecessary.

Your PM says that The Breaker in TFIV has "fades" that need fixing. And does not mention any other tracks.

I have gone back to double check my version of The Breaker with Technosoft Game Music Collection Vol. 5 which is the OFFICIAL release of the TFIV soundtrack. It "fades" exactly the same way.

And thanks @Colonel_Faulkner. Glad you're enjoying the remasters.

Upon downloading the game collection myself (and even busting out my original game) you are right...breaker is broken on everything. Sorry for being so moody bud, I will say again these are great. The only other busted track really was gargoyle from the TF3 set however upon getting a friend to download it to he found no problem, so i redownloaded and yeah seems to be fine (hick up in the downloading i guess). Please accept some covers i've made up for them as an apolagy https://mega.nz/#!XVdxnDRI!Zh8uq9ZetWuzeT019CHJZ1UfX5ONmcyUcj22bjRjWwE, they arn't amazing but they fit the original releases. I've also been handing it out myself making sure to give you full cudos man, loud but very clear.

The font used on those covers does look appropriate. I like those slightly... odd looking roman fonts that the Japanese often use for text.

But I'm pretty sure Breaker is not "broken" as it IS like that on the original game. I remember it being like that when I played the game.

Here also is a playthrough recorded from a Genesis (supposedly), and this timestamp is at the Super Hell Arm boss with The Breaker music:
https://youtu.be/sS7UuO1C0eI?t=1238

It was also recorded this way on the Saturn version with its CD audio:
https://youtu.be/GZ6Zz1BF4uQ?t=1203

I'm not trying to "prove myself" by saying this and certainly not wishing to argue, but I would like to show that despite using a VGM (which purists dislike), my remaster does not in any way alter the music outside of its tonal balance for better listening. There are a couple of edited tracks (Staff Roll but that was to _extend_ it, I don't cut anything out) but otherwise I always intend to bring a close-to-OG but "nicer sounding" experience. I'd stipulate that on The Breaker, Toshiharu-san used the "fading" for dramatic effect and it was - is - damned effective.

Anyway, no worries right? Let's all be grateful we can experience this incredible music. :)

no i get that man, i should have rephrased and said to me it sounds broken XD i honestly thought i had busted the track when mixing it up but yeah it plays like that even in the original cart, to me it sounds horrible but i guess it was the composers choice. Also, yeah i got that font for that exact reason, its the closest i could get (for free) to the old front cover fonts :). Yeah no worries man no harsh feelings thanks again for mixing these up. Swing past Emuparadise sometime, if you want any of what ive uploaded you go forit.
