Tempest 2000 Original Soundtrack Collection (1995)

Composed by Ian Howe, Alastair Lindsay, Kevin Saville, Julian Hodgson (Atari)
Vertiphon 2017 Remaster
16-bit 44.1 kHz lossless FLAC audio format and 320kbit/s MP3.

WHAT IS THIS?

12 tracks that comprise the soundtrack of Jeff Minter's now legendary arcade classic, Tempest 2000.

What kind of music would one expect to go with a psychedelic space shooter designed by the legendary Jeff Minter, such as Tempest 2000? Hardcore rave breaks dub trance techno? All these things! Television is, after all, the retina of the mind's eye. Top of the morning to you. Get sorted. And other Britishisms.

One of my goals with this endeavor is to present to the community well-mastered Original Sound Version / OST music of the greatest soundtracks video gaming has to offer. As is often the case with semi-pro mastered game music of this era, many of the tracks had a poor overall tonal balance and were very mid-centric. Thanks to my sympathetic mastering, this is no longer the case. Bliss out, dudes.

This does of course use the audio from the commercially released Tempest 2000 soundtrack. But it is long, long out of print and has never been reissued. Do you think Atari would bother these days?

thank you for this (and so many others)! which version of T2000 is this sourced from?

edit: it doesn't sound like the original Jaguar version, which I would LOVE to hear a remaster of. I'm guessing the Jaguar version was mostly samples, not any sort of sound-chip manipulation, but I'd still be curious how those elements could be drawn out in ways that differ from CD-ROM versions.

Source is a lossless copy of the T2K soundtrack album, as stated in the first post. I might add the original Jaguar version later, though without the extra production of the full soundtrack it does sound technically inferior. Thanks for your comments!
