channel 4 (a british channel) held a public vote to find the 100 greatest albums ever and these were the results (http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/G/greatest/albums/results.html) . what does everyone think of the choices?

the two most important and influential bands of the 90's are nirvana and radiohead, and if you disagree you know as much about music as a small dog with three legs

Slash

the band that influenced me the most would have to be gnr and bon jovi...but they were more 80s then 90s

I really wouldn't rate ok computer as... what, "the best album ever"? Alanis Morisette just plain sucks. Smiths would be higher in my own. The entire thing is kind of, uh, unbalanced, imo.

bon jovi

lol.

I'm extremely happy Radiohead got number 1 spot. Also Slash, you probably didn't know that the real Slash loves Radiohead, I mean he even admitted that he has all therer albums. Anyway, Jeff Buckleys' Grace should have been alot higher, and how the hell did Dido get in there?

i don't really see the appeal of jeff buckley (i prefer leonard cohen's original halleluia for starters) but grace is an incredible album and probably should have been higher. and i really don't think dido should have featured at all, all her songs sound the exact same!!!

How so? I don't disagree with you so much as I just don't have any sort of knowledge of who and what they influenced to any real degree... well, Nirvana's I get, kind of.

any grungey band that's come out since nirvana have claimed in some way to be influenced by nirvana. they brought grunge to the masses, some people see this as a bad thing (selling-out and all that crap) but many bands that are around today probably wouldn't have existed if nirvana never were. i'm not saying nirvana were totally original, they were influenced by the pixies and the sex pistols but we wouldn't have bands like the libertines. radiohead have influenced british bands like coldplay and muse

I lost faith in these kind of things after VH1 counted down the top 100 recording artists. Amazlingly, Robbie Williams won.

I'd agree with a small amount of the entries in the list. As mentioned already, Jeff Buckley's 'Grace' should have been a lot higher.

I think it was only channel four watchers opinion, so doesn't mean that much.
90% of it was mainstream bolox anyways!
Dido beat Meat loaf, jeez!
The only decent thing about that programme was it introduced me to
Nick Drake.

Take me down to paradise city where the grass is green and the girls are pretty.

Can't believe ok comp won best album although the bends is awesome!

slash is pretty cool (axl's a dick though) and what's the problem with bon jovi? why don't you try listening to someone with a little credibility, like... oh i don't know, radiohead

oh oh, we're halfway there oh oh, we're livin on a prayer...

even then, the 90's were pretty diverse, and you're basically ignoring whole other major genres. and influence is kind of a hard thing to measure, really. declaring them the two most important/influential bands of the 90's just seems sort of. Uh. Rash.

I didnt quite think Radiohead deserved number one. There are some albums I can think of that are better that werent even on there.

The Clash - London Calling should have been in the top 20 at least, and I was happy (and surprised) to see Kraftwerk in there, as they were pretty neat, imo.
