What's with you people using the DOWNLOAD forum for general talk? Seriously, read the fucking descriptions. This goes to either request, or General Discussion if it's to discuss the release..

Wrong thread. Should be in Anime/Film and Game Music Discussion. This is a thread for links.

Edit: Just saw Ponyo's post and now I'm feeling redundant.

Don't. In this case it never hurts to mention more than once...

I hope that in this 2-discs edition there will be at least one or two cues of Jhann Jhannsson's original - and rejected as I understood - score.

Hans Zimmer and I think Benjamin Walfisch

Ponyo is wrong. It's Vangelis (he came back for this one) with additional arrangements by John Williams.

No, YOU are wrong. It's Brad Fiedel who decided to come back for this one, alongside Junkie XL

You're both wrong. I have a VERY reliable source who says it's Jerry Goldsmith with additional arrangements by James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett.

I doubt anyone here is as crazy as you are when it comes to buying multiple copies of an album or LP.

Really? Ah man, I would've loved to hear Jhann Jhannsson's score. This made me sad just a little.

It's all about the moolie, mate ... If its a Zimmer venture its always a "Show Me The Money!" gig. If you follow the link on the Film Music Reporter website

it will take you to a limited edition website offering a 2,049 two-disc copy that you can pre order for twenty odd dollars. Only Zimmer could be so clawing.

Jhann Jhannsson was probably not in with a chance when the executives started to think of how they could make as much money as possible out of

the film. Zimmer sells CD's by the bucket loads. even if its crap, the geeks will stick their hands into their wallets to cough up. Jhann Jhannsson sadly

won't knock out as many copies as Herr Zimmer. It's simple economics - bullshit, but true. Let's hope that Zimmer has produced an exciting, thoughtful

and mature score. The fact he's partner up on the thing, leaves me cold. We live in hope.

Wow. For a thread that resulted in two nasty poo-poo responses this is still rolling? Seeing that the original store is practically more historic and overly represented here than all else, I only thought to alert
most folks since it seems 'important'. Has anyone (who is bashing Zimmer) thought perhaps Jhann Jhannsson just was not up to the
job of recreating THE VANGELIS sound that will be all important to this film? I would have hired Zimmer in a flash if Jhann Jhannsson's scoring was proving a disappointment.

I'm in agreement with you on the points you raise Phideas1. You are spot on. The score has to work with the picture, and the original Vangelis score is

in a league of it's own in my opinion. Jhann Jhannsson's work is minimalist in many ways, akin to modern classical compositions in the style

of Max Richter. Herr Zimmer is a cash-cow, that's my only point. The score he has co-composed may well be a cracker, I hope so. Either way

the executives would have been thinking of the pounds, shillings and pence when it came to knocking out a soundtrack. Zimmer's score will

maintain the rent payments on their Cayman island villa's for sure. Especially if they turn out multiple versions of the damn soundtrack. Cynical, moi?

Never ... ;-)

Name me a Johansson that's memorable, that's sticks with you, that you clamor for? His music fits the movies he scores but they're not really memorable.

In other words, has Johansson created scores that rival TDK, Inception or Interstellar?

I'll spare you the suspense, NO he hasn't.

And to quote the Joker, if you're good at something, you don't do it for free.

Scarlett Johansson ... Now that's memorable. Especially in Louboutin's and Latex.

You're damn right about the Joker too. Have you seen the price of a seat at one of Herr Zimmer's concerts or on his film music masterclasses, fucking extortionate ;-)

Never happening because... well, when has that ever happened?? The only time I can recall a CD release having a rejected score on it was when it was a last-minute rescore and the soundtrack albums had already been pressed (most of the CD was made up of pop songs anyway).
Besides, if I were a studio, why would I want to glorify the failures of one of my employees? If I were Hans Zimmer, why would I want to produce a soundtrack that featured music not by me or my partners, music that was sent to the trash can months ago?
