Navigating through the Film+TV forums I run from time to time into threads concerning the FYC scores of Oscar film nominees.
I was wondering if similar compilations for the "Original Song" candidates exist, either FYC or offered by a music label. I guess a CD series with each year's candidates would have a definite historical value and fairly good acceptance among some of us...

Not that I know of, and besides that it would be hell of a legal battle to put all those different songs from different labels onto one single disc. But that's a burden you don't have to worry about if you make those compilations yourself.

Oh well, thanks for your comments heidl.
I confess I was hopeful that FYC material would be produced for the occasion also in this case. So now just left as a matter of curiosity, how do the Academy members receive the songs for evaluation? As single-track CDs?

As Download-links I assume.

I believe it's often via single-track CDs, actually. You can find lots of FYC discs on eBay with a single original song on them.

Thanks! Did not think of eBaying the thing to check on the guess... this has been a short-lived thread after all, I hope the hints have been useful for more than just myself.
Cheers
