This recording was a wonderful gift from a late friend named GUMDROPS
who frequented the quarrelsome FSM Forum with great humor.... ending
each of his posts with a 'Yuk yuk'. He loved music, he loved his
friends, and he loved sharing. I post this sweeping and haunting
score for a limited time.... in memory of Gummy.

I don't like westerns and I don't much like scores for westerns.... this film is more about settling in harsh territory and surviving rather than gun slinging... but it is the only 'western' sounding score I have every really enjoyed. Possibly because it expands upon the sound cliches. Gummy knew it would suit me.

I remember hearing about Gumdrops from a mutual friend who lives in NYC. I used to chuckle at his posts over at FSM....I understand that he is now gone? I would love to have a link, If you may....

Gummy died over ten years ago. Difficult to think that wonderful man has been gone so long. When I was ill he stood by my side and introduced me to much music-
a Balm in Gilead. Music I never heard. In turn I introduced him to Jan A. P. Kazcmarek's work after the composer rose to fame with FINDING NEVERLAND.

Through intervention of a mutual friend from England (*), it was arranged that FSM would dedicate one of its new releases to Gummy, but to suit his personality
it had to be something different. Thus the release for THE EYE OF THE DEVIL composed by Gary MacFarland has a dedication. Few recognize the name
Greg 'Gumdrops' Twyman listed at the bottom of the credits.

We lost Gummy in an instant. In his mid forties. Suddenly falling ill and in days was gone. He once commented, wisely, 'Sometimes it
is just about the journey.' He generously shared his collection as we struggled to keep up with his largess; and as his girl friend
told me, his mail box was always Christmas. His journey was a love of good music.... and good friends.

(*) Gummy loved castles. So when this friend travels he leaves a flower on the tower crenelations of the castles he visits, for Gummy.
