Full Moon Main Title Madness - Richard Band, Pino Donaggio, Others [MP3 & FLAC]

I mostly use MP3s, but I think I’ve figured out how to make lossless if someone can double check these files for me. I imported the CD to iTunes using Apple Lossless, making an M4A file that I then converted to FLAC. Please let me know if it's right and I'll start fixing some of my other posts with re-uped links to lossless files.

You didn't mention if you were on a Mac or not, though most people don't tend to use iTunes on Windows. If you are on a Mac, you should take a look at XLD. It will rip and do all kinds of format conversions, and it's free.

Someone here (I don't remember who) has a tutorial on doing lossless rips (with XLD), but generally speaking, iTunes is the worst possible option.

Thanks for the share!

It is iTunes on a Mac, so I'll check out XLD.

The rip is ok except the frequency, can't be 48KHZ as it's a CD rip, so like that it's a fake 48KHZ (upconvert) so you should downconvert to 44.1KHZ original CD frequency.

Anyway, thanks for this rare album :-)

Apple lossless link is 44.1KHZ and seems to be accurately ripped (offset fixed)

not the FLAC, I use only FLAC.

ok well, I downloaded the m4a and converted to FLAC so now the FLAC is accurately ripped as the m4a.

I upload the new FLAC album and the OP should replace the link.

not the FLAC, I use only FLAC.

I used MediaHuman Audio Converter to convert the M4A to FLAC and did change the setting from 441 to 480, so you are correct and I've now learned that I should just leave the FLAC converter at 441.

Thank you, everyone, for helping me learn about this lossless stuff.

No problem, I have converted the m4a with my usual tool and now the FLAC is accurately ripped too.

And yes when you convert, just let the default setting, you can't change the frequency , it's an upconvert so a fake like lossy upconverted to lossless, a CD will be always 16/44.1

I m uploading, but it's in queue so check when the folder will be full so you could replace yours with mine but now delete your FLAC link. Click on the cover.

Thank you for the help and the fixed file link. I've updated the my top post.

That's what I did.

totally pointless (unless you prefer a larger file or this lossless specific format)

Thank you for the share.

You cannot make a lossy audio file to a lossless one.
The weakest part of the chain determines the quality of the "upgraded" file.
So it's completely worthless, to make a flac file (lossless) out of a lossy (mp3) material.

It's like blowing up a Super 8 Film to a 35mm Theatrical Copy.
The (minor) quality of the Super 8 film persists on the new (superior) vehicle-format.
