This rip is from brand new, clean discs, fully tagged to the best of my ability.

Mega Man Battle Network, known as Rockman.EXE in Japan and among fans, brings the blue bomber to the digital realm in this itteration of the franchise.
Rockman (a.k.a. Mega Man), along with Netto (a.k.a. Lan) work together to mass delete viruses across the net in the only way possible: Virus Busting™!

Story and joke aside, the franchise at some point needed to increase its market in the Game Boy Advance (GBA) platform. A new series was on the rise, so Rockman.EXE was put into action!
Rather than follow the typical side-scrolling action of the normal series or X series, and since the GBA couldn't power an engine like the Legends/Dash series to bring 3D action shooter to the playing field, a new gameplay design was thought up. With heavy Action-RPG elements, it is still hard to narrow it down to the Action RPG genre. It has an engaging story, collectibles, and random battle encounters; however, the battles have a 3x6 grid in which you fight viruses in highly fast-paced dodge-fests rather than fully action-based combat. However this allows for some very unique and engaging gameplay which definitely found its way into fans' hearts as much as new members to the fanbase.

With the gameplay slated, Capcom knew they needed similarly fast-paced and engaging music, so they had Akari Kaida set the stage for the overall style of music for the series, which affected the music to follow in future games. However, Yoshiko Aoki, Toshihiko Horiyama, Mitsuhiko Takano, and Yusuke Beppu definitely added their own flair to the original compositions as well as added their own compositions to the table, so each game feels complete in its own right.

If I had to explain the genre and style the music falls under, I'd say Rockman.EXE, because of its GBA roots, is obviously chiptune in nature, but it tries to be more than that. Drum & Bass influences are easily noticeable as the beats in the music keep your eyes on your target and never get old. Dramatic themes also come into play perfectly, and sad tales are portrayed beautifully with the composition chosen. Themes across the board are very catchy, as expected of a franchise like Mega Man, and this is a worthy addition to anyone's video game or chiptune repertoire.

If you are a fan of Mega Man music, the Rockman.EXE style does not disappoint, and this rare sound box has it all and then some. (minus one track from Rockman EXE 6. The Crossover track is missing compared to the original soundtrack release most likely due to licensing issues with Konami) I definitely recommend checking it out. Time to Jack In to this music, and Power Up!

I used to pirate music day in, day out. Now, nothing feels as good as supporting artists and having an official CD in your hands, let alone one you love!
