Curious as to how this one sounds. Willing to bet it's another case of the soundtrack being better than the film.

Disappointed !!

"29 - The City of 1000 Planets" & "31 - Pearls Power " are good but no "dobby" this time

...lets watch the movie first and decide after it

so far Brian Tyler made it with "Mummy" in 2017 .. just my opinion .. next hope goes to "Dunkirk"

Supposedly Dunkirk was one of Zimmer's worst scores. Haven't listened to it yet, but it supposed to be artificial and with less actual instruments. Seems he has been moving toward this lately.

Wow. Fun score. Love the different blends of styles Desplat brings to the score. He put everything on it. Orchestra, choir, synths, new age vibe, latin and european percussion. I'm glad he managed to make a lot from a space opera. You can tell Desplat had a lot of fun writing this.

Apparently the film itself is more focused in telling the story of the event rather than focusing on a single character that witnesses the event. Having a film focus more on the events than the characters, it's natural that the score gets much less melodic. I haven't listened to the score (except the preview cue) nor watched the film, but I'm convinced it will work excellently in the movie.

In the main it's more creative and certainly heads and shoulders compositionally above anything you'll hear outa the Hollywood Movie Score Factory Farm, but my first reaction is that it's a surprisingly conservative score. Given the outrageous story, the visuals, that it's a Besson pic, I was expecting something more eclectic, with a lot more va-va-voom, let's say. I'm also of the opinion the score suffers from temp-trackitis, particularly the composer's own Godzilla.

But I have to give it a second or third listen before making a final assessment.
