Heyyo

I was curios. how much is the monthly fee for FF XI?
I would like to know, because I am on dial up, and it would not be worth it if it is to expensive.

God bless
thanks

Player, it's $12.95 a month. It's an additional dollar a month for each additional character, and your first month is free.

To the best of my knowledge, the prices will be pretty similar to that if you're not in the US.

How nice. Someone might actually take that seriously if you just said why. :(

No one asked for anyone's opinion on the matter you know. :(

But yeah, 12.95 a month + 1 for every other character that you make. The first month (or to be exact, 30 days) is free, you will be billed on the 1st of every month thereafter.

Um, as far as I'm aware, FFXII isn't going to be a MMORPG that you have to pay to use it's services - only FFXI is a fully online game. However, Square Enix may have changed something about FFXII I'm unaware of (it's been ages since I last checked up official info about FFXII), so that is liable to change.

Really, FFXI's monthly payment isn't that steep as it seems, as long as you only go for the basic package and don't use any extra services, as they do add up after a while (extra characters, Tetra Master, plus the bonus PlayOnline Plus services.). For me, it only costs me about $17 a month (basic subscription with TM), which is not that much out of my limited student income. But, it's entirelly up to the player to choose what they want.

I wish to see a FFXI solo player game, online games aren't the same, and we have to play, no thanks

Why not wait until FFXII comes out and pretend that it's FFXI: Offline?

Also, in-game there is hardly any difference between dial-up and broadband. I know, I've played on both (mainly on dial-up though). Only difference is that in certain areas (lower jeuno auction house) the lag isn't quite as bad, and the (usually) bimonthly updates download quicker.

It probably won't work and any proof that you have of it working is just you speaking out lies.

i personally think its too much money, becasue u have to pay so much for it in the first place...
plus u have all those accesseries that make it much easier, which cost a bundle too...
so with 1year subscription, and 2 chars, it totals out 275 bucks which is more than the PS2 itself...

You do know that you can always play it on the computer and not need to buy said accesseries. You just need to pay for the Content IDs and the extra things you can get. For example, PlayOnline Plus, and Tetra Master.

does anybody think that FFXI will eventually become free to play online if so when?

Not a chance, at least as long as it continues to bring in the money for Square Enix I'm sorry to say.

FFXI Online (and the whole PlayOnline network too for that matter) is a major cash-cow for SE, so I seriously doubt they'll willingly throw away a major source of income so easily.

Still, stranger things have happened..

It'll never happen, I don't think any MMO in the past went from Pay-to-Play to completely free, not even Anarchy Online is free for the most part.

Three hours of work to gain a level after you get past level 2, rumors that it gets easier after level 13, but damned slim chance to get there on your own.

$12.95 a month isn't bad. I have the PS2 one, and It cost me $99.99 to buy the game, I had a keyboard, bought wireless router ($59,99). THAT'S the expensive part. However FFXI is really a lot of fun, so I think it's worth it. What I like is it has no contract or anything, so if you aren't going to play for awhile you can suspend your account and not have to pay. And since you can quit playing whenever you want, you don't have to worry about being stuck payign for it forever if you dislike it (plus the first month is free) The gay thing about it is if you decide you don't like it, you can't re-sell the $99.99 PS2 or PC game, once it's activated, it's activated.
