One day young Christopher Young, apprentice Jazz drummer took this LP record home, took the Lp out of it's sleeve (hopefully holding it by the outer edges - Karma Man!), and gently placed it on the Turntable, NEEDLE FLUFF CHECK, Record spins at 33, gently take the needle across.....

The Canadian movie "Highpoint" is a strange movie. On one hand, it wants to be a serious homage to the kind of thrillers Alfred Hitchcock made.
But on the other hand, it also wants to be a kind of spoof of those Hitchcock movies. Needless to say, mixing the two tones results in quite a mess. It's obvious that the filmmakers tried to save this in the editing room, but the different tones still result in an inconsistent feeling. It doesn't help that each tone isn't very well done. The mystery angle isn't very clear, and the comedy is painfully unfunny (they even try doing a chase sequence Keystone Kops style.) The movie looks a lot better than most other Canadian movies from the same period (it obviously had an ample budget), but its slickness doesn't hide its unsatisfying soul. Only for viewers who really want to see how Canadians would do Hitchcock... or who want to see Christopher Plummer sport a ridiculous-looking moustache.

Chris certainly had something special going on with The Dorm that dripped blood (still a fav). He then went back to the school of rip offs mid 80's to perfect his craft, leaving us with the fun of saying in such things as Wheels of Fire "Heeey that's the Blue Max" lol

Nice one zerokomma. Christopher Young seems to have crept up on us through the years without the fanfare he deserves. I'm hoping as this thread develops it restores a little balance to the universe lol.

Wanted to add that, aside from being a wonderful composer, Christopher Young is also one of the nicest human beings I've met. We used to run into each other shopping for music in Westwood, CA. This was in the mid 80's to early 90's, when record shops still existed. Miss those days!! Anyone interested in sharing more of this gifted composer, this should be the thread for it!!
