https://torrentfreak.com/anime-torrent-site-nyaa-goes-down-after-domain-name-deactivation-170502/

In case you haven't read the news online Two of the biggest Anime/Manga/OST/etc public torrent site Nyaa and Bakabt are gone now.

Bakabt has gone full private(unless you have an old active account, you cant register at all) and Nyaa has deleted its domain. Its probably something to do with the UK passing a bill that charges pirates for 10 years.

https://torrentfreak.com/10-years-in-jail-for-internet-pirates-now-reality-in-the-uk-170501/

Nyaa had one of the best OSTs. It may not be video game focused that much(there are still tons of shares there), but a lot of Anime OP/ED/OST/Drama CD's were uploaded there. Bakabt also had old Anime OST's that are no longer being seeded on Nyaa, but still active on their site. So now both of them are gone(unless you still have a Bakabt account) Shit, this is the worst fucking year ever.

I hope nothing happens to this site. But if it comes to that. I won't blame if some measures must be taken to consideration. I just want to say, there's a lot of OST's I was able to discover here. I really appreciate everyone who took their time and money to upload their stuff here. Thank You everyone!! I wouldn't have bought some of the OSTs if it weren't for your shares.

The same is going to happen to this website/dump, too, eventually; the sooner you accept that's how things are going to be, the easier it is to not really give a damn when it happens.

Well, that sucks to hear. Those were the sites I frequented, the rare time I wanted to get something anime related. I think what's worse is the lost of content that was there and nowhere else, more than the page itself. It's a loss, sad one maybe, if you wanna be melancolic, but it's not the end of the world - lives goes on. We cannot truly complain while we're doing something illegal. Gotta deal with it, I guess. I have an account in AnimeBytes, if I needed something very hard.

Rebuilding efforts are currently going on.

>latest update: nyaa sent an email and confirmed it's gone for good. and yes, it was due to the EU ruling. and no, db is almost surely wiped.

Partially working indexer site using old dbs
https://nyaa.pantsu.cat
[WHOOPS PR0NZIES]

WHAT HAPPENED?
- nyaa.se and associated domains (such nyaatorrents.info) went offline on May 01, 2017.
- They were deactivated, so it's not a DDoS attack like usual.
- Future prospects for nyaa are not looking good.
- There is a recovery effort taking place.

IS EVERYTHING LOST?
In short, No.

ARE SOME THINGS LOST?
We have a database of the torrents on nyaa up to April 5. That means that everything past April 5 is gone. Sukebei, however is in worse shape. We only have sukebei databases up to 2016.

HOW ARE WE RECOVERING?
The aforementioned databases are being hosted at nyaa.pantsu.cat and [WHOOPS PR0NZIES]. There is a search function, and (almost) full nyaa functionality should be coming soon. Unfortunately, due to the lack of a tracker and no plans to make one, seeder/leecher statistics will not be restored.

WAIT. IF THE TRACKER IS DOWN, HOW ARE THE TORRENTS STILL WORKING?
Even if the trackers are down, seeders are still connected to the decentralized DHT network. As long as the file is listed on the DHT network, business should carry on as usual.

HOW DO I USE THESE TORRENTS?
Just use the magnet link. The magnet link will used by your BitTorrent client to look up the file on the DHT network and it should download just fine. If your magnet link starts with "magnet:magnet:", delete the first "magnet:". It should look like:
magnet:?xt=urn:btih:[hash]&dn=[name]&tr=[tracker]

HOW CAN I HELP?
If you have website development expertise, you can join the #nyaapantsu IRC channel on irc.rizon.net. If you have any current databases, UPLOAD THEM.

I see, no wonder I wasn't able to send the link to my friend. I was more than lucky in that case, just finished downloading one of my favorite shows yesterday I lost when my old PC got broken. Zone of the Enders: Dolores,i in 720p... one of the last torrent that left Nyaa's domain.

Well can't mourn forever, so if anyone want and there is a topic to share it, I can upload the above mentioned anime.

About BakaBT, they were always so unfriendly even if you used to seed their torrents for 2 days. They have an awesome collection but always felt they want to keep it for themselves. For some weeks they seemed to enter a fully private status, but now it is gone.

I'm not against them, it is illegal at core so I'm happy with the few things I got from there. In the other hand if it was taken down, it is possible a weeboo hacked it in anger. Anyway it is an end no one deserves since -even if I'm not a big fan- it was a very quality source of Japanese cartoons for everyone, and a lot of them doesn't have any other way to get those.

BakaBT has NOT "gone for good" - it still exists and hasn't closed down. It is currently offline for server maintenance. I'm sure they will eventually open up to registration again or at the very least there will be ways to register...

Nyaa has already been mirrored and the replacement site, if lacking some of Nyaa's finesse, is working properly, with 99.9% of Nyaa's database already in place. It is, to all intents and purposes, Nyaa again - 48 hours after Nyaa's official expiry.

Three weeks worth of torrents are lost (currently - if they were in any way popular or in demand, someone will reupload them) which is sad but in the big scheme of things, no great loss.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but every time this happens people scream out "it's the apocalypse, it's the end of an era, it's such a sad day, valuable assets of human culture have been lost forever!" and folks, IT NEVER IS.

It's the end of using a particular URL to get a particular type of media, and there will undoubtedly be a few weeks of mild turmoil as we work out who's going to be doing what and where, but it's basically going to be business as usual, in a very short period of time.

Napster died. Audiogalaxy died. WinMX died. Kazaa died. Supernova died. Megaupload died. Hotfile died. Oron died. Etc, etc, etc.

Life goes on, folks - just at a different website. Same thing when this place eventually goes. It's like redecorating your house. You change the colour of the walls, get some different furniture, move stuff around a bit... but you still have somewhere to live. :)

That is definitelly a good news for fans. But to be honest I think BakaBT has right somewhere. The easiest way to catch an illegal sharing site is to get reported by the disappointed users. Making it full private and disabling the normal registration prevent this happening, as well makes the spyware attaks extremely hard to unleash. And we all know most of the fans only abuses these sites by never seeding anything back which easily can lead to dead torrents, we can't wait for the host to seed everything alone.

If you ask me all of these changes happening partially because of the greedy and blind fans. We can support the sites -even if just a little- if we enforce their rules even more.

BakaBT however still more strict than every other site and I doesn't think they will open the registration for anyone anytime soon. Through special users you can ask for registration or can ask for a link to personal registration but not for only a single torrent, and the first time you not seed anything they will delete your account. Sorry but as I said I really agree with this, even if this means I can't download from them also.

I have to agree that bakabt.... there are some big douches there. yes there are. granted.
but.... going private is the safest way for all.

At least for those who's already in. Like me, a lot of users never registered since downloaded only some series or OST packs, and also always seeded it for some times because had nothing better to do.

Sadly Nyaa torrents isn't back. I doesn't watch animes often so I doesn't care about that but it had a lot of stuff for very old and rare games. Patches for forgotten games, soundtracks that wasn't even released, and such. And just to mention BakaBT, Nyaa torrents had the Zone of The Enders: Dolores,i in 720p, while BakaBT didn't (however Nyaa's torrent was linked in the comments on BakaBT).

About BakaBT as say the same: I can totally understand them, it also helps keeping the torrents alive and in a more higher quality seed-wise. The only problem that could occur is a disappointed anime fan report them to the competent authority of piracy just to take revenge.

I've been around the internet since dial-up and looking up for FTP addresses to download music in mp2 and aiff. Pretty sure, as Dr. Ian Malcolms say: Life, Uh, Finds a Way.

Nyaa was back on the same day they went down. OK, it's not the same site or the same people running it, but it looks the same and it's running off the same database... So as far as I'm concerned it's Nyaa.

It's a different URL now. That's it. Uploading is working again, all the torrents are back. Business as usual, folks.

Yes, that works, but often timed out there too. Also it seems like not all the torrents were uploaded there yet, as I can't find the last torrent I downloaded from Nyaa torrents.

For me, Sukebei is down but the main site is up. They're still working on it, by the looks of things - a logo has appeared that wasn't there yesterday and every day the site feels a bit more like Nyaa.

https://nyaa.si

It looks like Pantsu has a competitor - Nyaa.si - and the major fansubbing groups and indexing sites seem to be endorsing this new one rather than Pantsu. Pantsu is currently a little more along the development stage than Nyaa.si but basically both sites are functionally identical.

Great.

Now we have TWO Nyaa's both with the same content up until May 1st and then they diverge.
