Question...

I usually post links with my posts, but on those occasions when I have to send them by PM, I usually ignore requests from people who haven't made at least 2 original soundtrack posts to the forum. Seems reasonable to me, but lately, a user who's posted nothing keeps pestering me.

Am I being unreasonable? Should I just cave and send links to non-posters?

If he/she keeps pestering you, try to put him/her in the ignore list, I don't remember if it works for private and visitor messages, but it's worth a try. Damn… It has been baffling to see throughout the years I spent here how many of you seem to not use that thing.

Also, here are two equally valid standpoints:

1) You're technically not required to share links with users X, Y, Z… In case you don't want to;

2) He/she's technically not required to give a damn about an unofficial rule you've made up for yourself.

Personally speaking and following to the letter what makes up the official rules of the community, a moderator/or another member of the Staff could even refrain from taking action, in such case.

Fair enough.

considering that what he's asking for is a link to something that is completely digital and therefore can be copied infinitely at no cost to you, and which you don't own in the first place, I have absolutely no idea why you wouldn't just post it here.

But since the thread is about sharing links here is a link I like:

I wasn't aware there was ever a requirement or unspoken etiquette or whatever suggesting that people who've never shared anything aren't entitled to links to free music on these forums. Personally, I think that's pointless and for some reason it smacks a bit of elitism to me. Suppose those people have nothing particularly unique to share? So should they just share the 500th link of some big budget, easy-to-find blockbuster score to satisfy this stupid rule, further cluttering up this forum with another unnecessary Star Wars or Transformers or Pirates of the Caribbean thread just to satisfy said rule of yours?

I get it. You don't have to share with anyone you don't want to share with, and you can choose to ignore them, or you could realize that one consequence of your personal sharing policy and the very act of posting in a sharing forum is that you're going to sometimes have to deal with pestering from others. Life sucks, deal with it. Or further clutter the forum with a pointless advice thread like this one. *shrug*

I prefer the France Gall version myself

Respect. But I like rock and roll in English for the same reason I like anime in Japanese.

It's not her best, I just like the sound of the language. I prefer Gall's songs that tend more toward pop and jazz. I think Serge Gainsbourg was not well suited to writing rock songs.
