Final Fantasy VIII is on its way to me in the post, brand new and sealed. So i am asking the people of this forum if they could give me tips on what i should do in the game like is there special items I should need and whats the best places to level up and junction and things like that. It would be very much appreciated.

This thread could also give other people tips on what to do if they havent done or something so it works for everybody! =)

Well its really easy to power lvl. At the start of the game out side your starting place there r battles that will give 200exp and in FF 8 to lvl up all u need is 1000exp every time!:) But bewarned your enimies lvl with your main character but they dont really gain in power as much as u do so u will be ok.
I thing ,which is a pain but can really help u out, is evetime you dicover a monster crrieying a new magic Draw all 100 u can. This will make u a lot more powerfull if u junction it to the right slots.

Don't ignore the card game --- get Quetzal's Card Mod as soon as possible --- but don't mod any LVL 8 or higher cards if you like the idea of collecting a complete set. Otherwise, have at them.

Make sure you speak to Cid a few times before heading to Timber so you get the magic lamp , if not you will miss out on a very good GF.

And make sure to check each boss's Draws --- otherwise there's a good chance you could miss out on some GF's as well!

A few useful magics:

Triple
Aura (really useful)
Meltdown (extra damage!)
Flare
Ultima

Or just use the stones

Try card modding some cards for some holy wars. invincibility is always useful, but make sure you've got your characters in aura before hand if you want to do some limit breaks

Aura is exellent and Meltdown, jeez, i cant believe it even works on the last boss, no boss is safe! Make sure every1 draw all meltdowns from the missile base tank boss.

is there anywhere on the world map with like rare draw points, cuz im out of all those magics. i ahve like 1 ultima, and 3 meltdowns, idk how many auras i ahve, but i know i need more. i have no flares (used them all on......um.....Axel)

Something I do:

When you are out of the garden, fight along the beach near Balamb Garden and you will only run into fights with Fastitocalon-F's (think that is spelt right). You usually fight 2, and that is 6AP plus they give you Fish Fin's which can be turned into 20 Waters with I-Mag Ref learnt by Shiva. Put 100 Water's in a character HP and it can go above 1000 at that point in the game. Do it for other charatcers too, in strength, etc.

Tis extremely useful, i do that a lot to Gast, and yes it is spelt right

Once you're a Seed, be sure to take the written tests located in tutorials. It will make your Seed rank go up and so earn more money.

These are some good tips people

you can draw meltdowns from gaylas on trabia and you can draw ultimas from a draw point in shumi village but it costs gil so make sure your spr is high

Find a list at www.gamefaqs.com where all the Monthly Weapons Issues are at and collect them all. Very important. I missed like 3 first time around.

Try not to refine any cards until disc 4, and make sure you collect them all.

Make sure you dont refine Gilgamesh until you fight either Ultima Weapon or Omega Weapon, they both are hard as hell, getting to ultima is a challenge in itself too. Omega just takes so friggin long to kill.

Oh yeah and try not to go to lvl 99 early on, because then when you do fight Omega Weapon he will have 1 million + hp. What I did was target Squall for individual leveling, so that he was the highest level, by like 20 levels always, so that when you were fighting your other characters lower lvls would compensate the ratio for levels on average, making Squall the most dangerous person in existence.

MOST IMPORTANT IS TO DO EVERY SIDE QUEST AVAILABLE, ALL OF THEM!

Don't rely on GFs. Your Limit Breaks are that most powerful abilities at your disposal.

i found a way to get ultima flares holys and auras without fighting anything...once u are capable of going to island closest to hell and island closest to heaven...put enc-none on of ur chars then walk around the island and keep pressing x u shuld get a few (not a crap load)of all the spells i mentioned,once ur done with one island move on to the one u didnt go to and collect there...the good part bout this is that all the draw points refresh fast so when ur done with one island the other island will have all its draws up again

a quick way to lvl there once u got ur airship is to put quistis in ur party and keep ur health in the yellow stage..when she goes use degenerator on the monster(it works on all of them)most monsters on the islands will usually give u like 1500+ exp for each char.(this is also a good way to get valuable items for ur peoples ultimate weapons)

where do i fight omega weapon cos i fought ultima weapon and killed him piss easy

you fight omega in ultimecia's castle...but ultima weapon is a bitch compared to him

omega has 1 millon+ hp and has str and magic maxed and also absorbs evry elemement
o yea he also has a attack that attacks multiple times (like meteor) its called terra something...but it does around 4500 per hit...so if u think u can take him on after ultima weapon then go ahead and face him

ummmmmm............. i'm thinking of good tips right now cuz everything the guys said is what i was gonna type here............. so give me a minute..................... fight monsters in the island closest to hell and island closest to heaven... they give you very rare items.... not really if you ask me, well, for you, maybe, especially the items needed for their ultimate weapons.(i hope this tip is not yet given...)

If you are trying to collect all of the cards, then make sure you get "The Girl Next Door" magazine when you first go to Timber. If you give this to Zone, when you are on the White SeeD ship you will get the Shiva card and I think that is the only way you can get that card.

At the point you get to the queen of cards she has some of the most rediculous rules ever. So I suggest trying to get every card before hand so you dont have to bother battling her a lot. Random is a kick in the balls Ill tell ya. Unless u refine all of your crappy cards and leave all your good ones.

in the end she has i think evry rule in the game adn theres no way to change that...has for refining all ur crappy cards i did that alot but only cuz i spread the random rule when i was getting the siren card

little tip but so useful............... save in more than 1 slot, i have had ff7 crash before and even ffx-2 make sure you save twice to avoid it breaking and losing your mem

u can obtain ANY card in the gaem from the queen of cards in disc 4 You can only win the Cards you'd usually get from the QoC Quest from the Queen on Disc 4. The CC Group, located on the Ragnarok, have all the cards.

fight on cactuar island if you want to learn your gfs abilities and other things but be careful the first time you go there

try to get eden as soon as possible because its devour ability may come in handy

No devour is useless except if you devour one certain monster to max out your stats which on it is though i will not say As i am not going to just ruin the game for you by letting you in effect cheat.

But Also Try and train your characters evenly as I know it has already been said but. Monsters level up with your main character.

For example.

squall is on a level 100 and the other 2 are on 75. you go to fight a ruby dragon the other two are toast ny his breath.

Best thing to do there is have squall use kamikaze as he will lose no exp as he is already maxed out but it makes it easier for the others as more often then not the enemy will be left near death.
