Goldeneye 007 Arrange Soundtrack is an unofficial arrangement album (different from the BK, BT, DK64, BM64 remasters) for the Nintendo 64 classic Rareware game "Goldeneye 007".

All songs have been recompiled together from their original sequences with most instruments updated from their low quality sample source.

The game uses samples from a Roland JV-1080 and the E-mu Proteus series of keyboards but I have instead opted to use modern sample libraries/synth vsts along with some Roland 90s keyboard samples.

Though it may not be a completely accurate remaster matching the original synthesizer samples together, I hope this arrangement can satisfy those looking for a simple but faithful musical upgrade from the limitations provided by the Nintendo 64.

Special Thanks to:
-SubDrag for creating the N64SoundTool/MidiTool/SoundbankTool which makes this process possible in the first place.
-The guys at "The VGM/Others Instrument Source Thread" (https://hcs64.com/mboard/forum.php?showthread=24937) on hcs64 who I've not spoken to formally but who have provided a valuable resource for finding individual sample sources for many games old and current.

Composers: (Credits come from Graeme Norgate's site)
-Grant Kirkhope: (1-02~1-07, 1-12~1-17, 1-21~1-27, 2-01~2-03, 2-10, 2-17, 2-18, 2-23, 2-24)
-Graeme Norgate: (1-01, 1-08~1-11, 1-18~1-20, 1-28, 2-04~2-09, 2-14~2-16, 2-19~2-22, 2-25)
-Robin Beanland: (2-11)

Hopefully mistakes are non-existent in this one. There were...

Enjoy!

EDIT: Curious but can you outline the process of which you did this? im attempting to get into remastering some osts with n64soundtools myself.

I'm waiting for mario12ify to do his rapid sequence of error reporting.

So far, it's awesome. The only error I've found so far, is that in "Converted Missile Train", it seems like the track with the tom toms are played too early, as they don't seem to be in line with where they should be in the original track (like they're played about 1 or 2 measures/bars early).

DUDE THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Curious but can you outline the process of which you did this? im attempting to get into remastering some osts with n64soundtools myself.

Here's a quick list of what I used:
-Viena to repitch or/and edit decays for samples in the soundfont
-FL Studio as the DAW
-sfz VST to play the soundfonts from a midi controller in FL (inconvenient process)
-Massive VST for synths
-Kontakt VST to use numerous sample libraries (I've been collecting many)

As per tradition there's always something...

Had to do some quick fixes. MP3 version is up, FLAC is uploading still.

EDIT: FLAC is up

Quick fixes:
2-06 Converted Missile Train:
-Toms played 2 bars early
2-07 Converted Missile Train X:
-Reverse Cymbal shifted slightly earlier to end at the beginning of the next bar
2-22 el Shagira Temple X:
-Recorder now plays at a higher octave
-strings fade in before loop

Thanks for updating them quick, however, I did find one more. Severnaya Installation 2 X, the Koto (or whatever instrument is used) is an octave too low (compared to the original).

As far as I'm aware, this is the only remaining issue I've found. So, unlike mario12ify, this IS the last one :P

Awesome work!!

Any chance of a remaster similar to BK/BT/DK64 for those of us who are interested in that sort of thing?

Maybe its just me but antenna cradle sounds bit weird at the beginning with the drums, not sure if there are any mistakes in the track.

@ MTRougeau

That would be insane if he can pull it off! However, id rather have like a donkey kong country arrangement with high quality samples of the original snes sound fonts, but im not even sure what david wise used besides the korg wavestation.

EDIT: now that you mention it, i tried messing around with the midi files converted from spc files and its a nightmare! :D

I tried with MIDIs and DKC....

The problems I had was that there was literally no MIDI events. Any pitch bending or whatever didn't happen. And if you tried DKC2, most of the instruments were wrong. Bayou Boogie sounded awful. DKC3 was just as bad. Super Mario RPG's percussion was replaced with some generic sawtooth sound of some sort.

I tried Rarespc's but it seems to offer no results either in outputting a proper midi file, when i loaded fear factory in synthfont, it said there were like 64 midi programs and assigning a preset didn't help.

I'm ashamed to have actually had mistakes in this soundtrack though to be honest I started this on the 12th originally as a remaster with better drums and bass. I could have probably gave it a day or too to go through each track if only the DAW crashes weren't as frequent as the loading and track rendering I may have had the patience to do that.

Lol I did do a crappy remake of DK64 using Korg M1 samples that I uploaded here a couple years back. It might be floating around the internet somewhere I don't know. It's safe to say this kind of an arrange project is a rarity if not the only one. I do have two potential projects (there were samples on this site somewhere) on the backburner but if I ever finish those they would probably be on Bandcamp, Loudr, or something.

OC where exactly in the track do you hear what sounds weird, I've listened to the song and can't really tell. Also for the past 2 years and such I have been working on a DKC arrangement (1 on the 2 potential projects) originally with Korg M1 samples (wavestation vst is not user friendly) upgrade to any sample library I can use.

dkcdemo (from 2014 when I started, I had far less knowledge of how to properly use a DAW at this time) (https://app.box.com/s/3p00tfs4b1s9d91pqvfg)

dkcdemoreel (another from 2014 but slightly better sounding and far more tracks) (https://app.box.com/s/b6jcfl8rgeq6rgbw0hy7)

I do have far better sounding recent tracks (not perfect) but I'm not sure I want those out in the open yet.

It is a nightmare. I had to jump through flaming hoops using the midis from rarespc to compile these tracks though I also used some midis from vgmusic for reference at the time. (I actually recreated most of the tracks from DKC3 GBA and uploaded the midis there.) VGMtrans (https://github.com/vgmtrans/vgmtrans/releases) would have been extremely useful then which you guys can use if you're trying to get the midis from the SPCs.

You wouldn't happen to have heard of a franchise called No One Lives Forever, would you? Great Bond-like soundtrack, all synthesized... wish someone you like would take a crack at remastering it!

1-19 Severnaya Installation 2 X
-Raised koto an octave

1-21 Severnaya Bunker Complex/1-22 Severnaya Bunker Complex X
-Lowered volume slightly

-Song has been re-mixed
-Intro snares are at a consistent velocity (track 2-17 only)

2-22 el Shagira Temple X

Wow thank you for the fixes, and antenna cradle sounds much better!!

May i make a suggestion and you probably already know this but i think the track 1-11 Severnaya Installation 1 at 2:37 when the synth kicks in, would sound better with the electric guitar from the power trip sample from the roland as heard here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PMsU4yNoLk

Not even sure if that sample was even easy to find :) but again no worries.

I'd highly suggest Diddy Kong Racing and Conker next (for the B-K/T/DK64 remaster like treatment).
And ditto on GE007 being remastered with original samples as well,
Though good job on the arranged version!

I think I'm turning into mario12ify now. But I noticed that the part in Runway where it gets quieter, the strings should have a pitch bend. And on Surface 1, there's an instrument that's usually a deep note, that's played, but is much quieter and almost unnoticeable, that you first hear at the same time as the first notes on the celesta/music box about 2 seconds in.

I hope I'm not sounding too criticising.

I don't recall hearing about the game but i've seen that main character before. Probably not on the arranging it.

A guitar was supposed to be there so this was actually a mistake. I don't own a Roland JV-1080 nor know of any sample libs around which is partly the reason why I didn't do a 1:1 remaster.

Nope.

It's fine. Hopefully I've fixed pretty much all of the issues by now.

Quick Fixes 3:

1-08 Service Runway:
-added string pitchbend

1-11 Severnaya Installation 1:
-added missing guitar
-subbass should be audible
-song somewhat re-mixed
-edited choir fade-in during the intro

Yet again, this is excellent! :D
I cannot wait for an eventual Perfect Dark treatment like this as it's Goldeneye's spiritual successor.

And there were a couple "beta" songs that I believe Grant Kirkhope shared himself of renders with uncompressed samples, it souds so much better. :D

Thanks I did use some of Grant's tracks on his site as a reference. Probably won't on Perfect Dark, Goldeneye was a simpler project to arrange and PD's music is not something I'm fond of enough.
